Enjoyable Stay This is our 4th stay at the Waikiki Sunset, the last stay was about 6 years ago. The hotel is still very nice despite showing its age and the need for some updates. We had two one bedroom ocean view units and they were clean and similarly appointed with nice kitchens where you can cook meals. The staff was very nice and we had quick responses to a couple of maintenance issues. In the past, we thought the elevators were slow, but this time we found them to be ok. There were certain times during the day when there were longer waits for the elevator. The parking garage is independently operated and the parking stalls are tight - would recommend renting smaller vehicles if you can. Overall, this is a nice condo/hotel for families, decent rates, and only a couple of blocks from the beach. If you’re looking for newer upscale accommodations, valet parking, etc. this is not the place.

Train wreck The unit was dated, carpet stained. Second bedroom was a double bed without space for even a suitcase. The building caters to a young partying crowd. Next door was an ongoing fraternity party. When their door opened, we saw no less than 20 college-ish aged boys. The elevators took no less than 10 minutes to call. And it’s so on the edge of Waikiki that many restaurants or interesting attractions are a 20+ min walk. To be fair, the views of Diamond Head are good. We might have been ok with the crappy ish lodging in light of the value if we hadn’t received a memo from the property manager indicating a power outage for 2 full days of our stay. Our friends who had booked through Airbnb were offered a full refund to cancel. Our friends who had booked through VRBO were offered “free” stays for the impacted days. We, through the property managers, were offered 50% off the one affected night, never mind it was two affected days. Because, a stay involves more than “just electricity, hot water, AC”. By reaching out to Booking.com directly (thank you Booking.com), I was able to get a refund for the affected dates. But be warned. The property managers refused to help me. They were rude and ridiculous. This was a family vacation we had all looked forward to. We were disappointed from the start with the quality of the lodging before the power outage. Their response to the power outage was insult to injury. Don’t stay here. Just don’t. Not worth it. If you are spending the money to come here, find something that doesn’t create irritation and frustration when you are supposed to be enjoying this beautiful place. Stay somewhere else/

Perfect for Families The was dated but the views were breath taking! Perfect view of both diamond head and the ocean from our room. The space was perfect for our family of 5! The fully equipped kitchen served great for quick breakfast or home cooked meals. The pool was an excellent break from the crowded beaches and the staff went above and beyond!
