Nice people, Major maintenance needed We booked 2 nights at this hotel to be in Idabel, OK to experience the total solar eclipse. The eclipse was spectacular! We expected the price of lodging in the area to be raised because of the eclipse. The price at Super 8 by Wyndham Idabel was at least doubled. We will not book this hotel again, even at the normal price. The family who operates this hotel is friendly and helpful. The linens were newer and clean. The bathroom area seemed to be clean and stocked with good towels. Otherwise, the building in general needs major maintenance and the rooms need a deep cleaning to the corners with more of the furniture replaced. We were most concerned with the door to our room not locking unless it was slammed (I'm sure our neighbors appreciated that); and while they knew the hotel would be full, they seemed unprepared to provide breakfast for that many people. Due to pending severe weather in the area the night after the eclipse and the issues, we left before our second night. Hopefully, the money they took in with the rates because of the eclipse will help them maintain the property better. We sent a detailed review to Wyndham.

Integrity matters Thought I'd share my experience with this hotel. On 9 Apr 23, I booked a room using hotels.com for two nights - 7-8 Apr 24 - to be in a prime spot to view the total solar eclipse. The cost was about $190/night. On 27 Apr 23, I received a phone call from the hotel telling me my reservation was made by their mistake due to a "computer glitch," and that they fixed the "problem." The "glitch" required them to cancel my reservation. He offered to re-book me at the rate of $550/night. Since I had a confirmed reservation in hand, and I wasn't responsible for their "glitch," I demanded they honor my original reservation. He refused. I have no problem with paying more - a lot more - during this time frame. But there are limits. If he had been honest with me, I would have considered re-booking at the new rate. But I don't like being lied to. Fortunately, I was able to make accommodations with one of their competitors in a nearby town at a fair rate. I'll be avoiding Super 8 in the future.

Wyndham property in name only. Decent price (barely) led me here. Property is worn out. Carpets are soiled. Parking lot is a disaster. Remodel of rooms during stay was interesting. Abandoned car was a nice feature. Guests cooking dinner on the breezeway in front of their room, is that legal? Office locked during "continental Breakfast" hours. Room was serviced daily though. Staff were there, and that was it, there.

Condition of property To to daughter's for Thanksgiving dinner. The desk employees weren't friendly at all. The room was in terrible shape. The front door wouldn't latch nor would the dead bolt work. Bathroom door wouldn't close or lock. The bathroom had mold on in. They over bleached the bedding causing me to have a nose bleed. Walls were in dirty and chipped.
