Stunning grounds, spacious rooms The grounds are stunning and well maintained. The concrete path at the edge of the property is a great way to walk beside the ocean with a bit of shade and a great breeze. We stayed in one of the rooms with a kitchenette, a pull out sofa and a separate bedroom. Every room was spacious. It would be nice if the kitchen supplied salt and pepper and a few spices. Cooking oil would also be a good idea. There was a double sink in the bathroom and a separate toilet and shower/tub behind a pocket door. There were 2 separate doors leading into the bathroom...one from the bedroom and one from the living room. Perfect for someone sleeping in each room. There is no housekeeping. If you need clean towels, just ask, but your place won't be cleaned nor your beds made. The room sound proofing seems good on the rooms to either side. However, the soundproofing from the room above is not good at all. You can hear everyone's footsteps. Very annoying at night or early in the morning. The roosters are awful in the morning, but there is no where on Kauai free from chickens and roosters since the hurricane in 1992 which scattered all local chickens all over the island. They now roam free. The restaurant on the premises had one of the best meals we ate while on the island. The combination of the Island Country Market and the ABC store is a one minute walk from the lobby. Super convenient for everything. What they don't have are lactose free or gluten free products. The Safeway store is a 15 to 20 minute walk if you don’t have a car and you can get those specialty products there. My one big complaint is how you must listen to a spiel about the Time Share. You are told you'll get many excursion discounts just by attending the next day seminar which just happens to have a couple of free spots. As soon as they found out I was there with a friend and not my spouse, they lost all interest in helping us book excursions. Without your spouse you are disqualified from attending. How archaic is that?? And...you must go to a different hotel to make arrangements for tours. Thankfully, Britney, at the Kauai Shores Resort was incredibly helpful and arranged anything we needed. Yes, I'd return here for sure, but I would not listen to the Time Share speech.

Chickens galore! _ A great place to stay! We visited recently and thought the resort was great! Staff was quick and pleasant and I had zero issues checking in. We had a 1bd ground floor unit. My only partial complaint would be the carpet feeling slightly damp due to humidity but I’m from a very dry climate so it could just be that I’m not used to that feeling..I just slipped on my sandals..It was spacious and had everything we needed. We were able to cook a few meals and keep fresh foods, do our laundry and enjoy some time on the patio with the chickens. I loved the coconut market place, it was a 3 minute walk from our unit! They have everything you’d need and some great restaurants, and even shave ice! The resort itself was maintained well, clean and quiet. The pool was very busy but I expected that and the beach isn’t swimmable but we swam anyways. We are strong swimmers but I can definitely see how it can be dangerous, there’s quite a dip that you can get trapped in. The bbq and grill areas were nice and cute but no one had used them at all. We also loved Hukilau restaurant for our last nights dinner. The last 2 days we had some terrible loud people above us, which children running back and forth all day, patio door slamming, loud music playing ugh they were terrible neighbors but that is not the resorts fault! We lives our stay here and def will be back we had everything we needed and if we wanted anything else it was a 3 minute walk away!

Try anywhere else in the area We decided to make a quick journey to the island of Kauai and booked a package with Hawaiian Airlines. Took their moderate priced hotel as we were spending the time exploring. The hotel is an old and the rooms are looking it but the bed was comfortable. Unfortunately the buildings are wood framed meaning the guest on the floor above us would wake us up at 3 am to walk around and open and close the patio doors Guess what? The restaurant was closed during our entire visit. The solution was the front desk suggested to go across the street or go to the other resorts next door. Finally the staff. They are bored and completely uninterested in helping guests. They are not welcoming and although not rude I felt I was bothering them. This also goes for the concierge who seemed put out when asked for assistance.

Paradise The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and well equipped. Both the living room and the bedroom have sliding glass doors that look out over the beautifully landscaped garden and pools. Plenty of lounge chairs and two hammocks by the pools and overlooking the beach. Walking distance to the Coconut Marketplace with shops, restaurants and a grocery store. Well equipped fitness center. Centrally located with easy access to all parts of the island.

Great location The location is great with Cocunut market just across the street with restaurants and shops. Also short drive to Lihue and costco. North Shore Pool are and grounds overall are beautiful. However the rooms are in need of some updating. Other than that a pleasant stay.
