Well organized for solar eclipse Stayed here two nights for the April 8th solar eclipse. Although the hotel was fully booked, everything was well organized and the whole check in process was seamless. As a bonus, there were vendors selling eclipse souvenirs and glasses. The hotel had also organized a meet and greet for those interested in the eclipse. The area immediately around the hotel is very spread out with very few eateries and shops in the immediate vicinity. There is a Mexican taqueria on site which serves all three meals and had all our meals there. Unfortunately, this restaurant is not on Tripadvisor. Food is good and inexpensive too. Rooms are spacious with a mini kitchen (just fridge and microwave). Beds are very comfortable. The TV was still of the old CRT and not a flatscreen. As a side note, there was a small eclipse watch party set up by the hotel near the Fort Hood memorial. The clouds parted in time for totality. Hotel did a great job and was very hospitable to all those who attended a once in a lifetime event. Great job everybody!

Gone Downhill in Recent Years I have been staying at this hotel occasionally for the past 8 to 10 years, but they have really let the place go downhill. It was once very immaculate but they have failed to do proper maintenance and upgrades. For example, my room had an old square, tube-style television. The carpet in the hallways, at least on the fourth floor, was wrinkled and stained. There was also some mold on the ceiling above the shower. The indoor pool was nice, but the outdoor pool was empty with trash and leaves. The outdoor landscaping was full of weeds. They didn't offer breakfast or food other than vending machines. Years ago this hotel offered full room service with a restaurant, but not anymore. On a positive note, the staff was friendly. The hotel is in a good location, close to shopping and other attractions.

Do Not Stay Here! This hotel is very run down and in need of major updating. There is no restaurant as advertised, we did not have our room cleaned despite asking to have it done. When we came back after dinner to find our room hadn't been cleaned, we asked for clean towels and were told there were none to give us. The pool was closed.l for repair. Our room had stained carpet, a TV that was at least 20 years old, and the bed was so broken down that I nearly rolled out onto the floor. The front counter wasn't even in use and had numerous boxes stacked behind it. The clerk was sitting behind a desk by the front door. We ran out of toilet paper and I called down to have another roll sent to my room. The clerk said they would have to see if they had any. This hotel should either do a complete remodel or it needs to close down. I would not recommend staying here.

Killeen SuperFightNight The staff was very attentive. Classy, posh type environment. The rooms where very roomy and comfortable. My key had an issue (electronic card type) and when I brought it up to the staff. It was handled with expedience and professionalism. Thank you all for a wonderful time.

Renovations Woke up and just kept smelling a strong smell of urine so I took off the corner of the sheet and seen a huge urine stain and there was no mattress cover. I immediately took a shower and went to the front desk. They refunded me for the night but just knowing I slept in someone’s urine just turned my stomach. Also it seems like all the curtains look like cats got a hold of them being that there are rips and tears all throughout and the furniture is old and damaged and the carpet is stained and buckled. This hotel needs to have some serious renovations. So I gave them the benefit of the doubt and we stayed there again, woke up the next morning and realized that the pillows had no pillow cases on them!!!! Just horrible. I’m done with Shilo!!!
