My Actual Rating 2.5 The Super 8 in Kingston NY actually rated itself. In my mind, their Poor Distrusting Payment Policy negates the value of friendly staff, fine housekeeping & great area location. This hotel charges you $100 on your credit card (cash payments are not accepted here) and you may be waiting up until 7 days for the amount to be credited back to you. I'm still waiting. The notice at the front desk tells us it is the credit card company's fault for this delay. Nothing like blaming someone else for their "Third World" payment policy. How are the rooms? They are what you would expect from a Hotel that is so fearful and distrusting of their customers, that they literally charge you a hundred dollars up front in addition to your bill in hopes that you don't trash the place.

Terrible experiamce Terrible experience. I stayed in this hotel on 08/06/24 in Room 216. I ended up at the hotel at the last minute due to car issues. The room was substandard. The Air Conditioner rattled and banged and produced very little cold air so it was a hot sweaty night. When we arrived there was one towel in the room and no soap of any kind. I went to the front desk and asked for some and he handed me some hand towels and said “I am leaving soon and this is all I have” . I took them back to the room, when I looked at them it looked there were clean but very stained. I am guessing he gave me towels that we previously used for cleaning? I thought I would just shower in the morning and get new stuff then. The freezer in the refrigerator was one solid block of ice. I have seen that in my 1950’s era refrigerator in my garage but never in a hotel. We also found a pair of sunglasses and a toy next to the bed from a previous guest which made me wonder how they could have cleaned and not found those? When I checked in he told me that breakfast started at 7:00 AM. I went down at 7:00 to get some breakfast and towels and soap but the office was all locked up. There was a sign on the door that said “we are all out of rooms and due to a staffing shortage the office is closed for the evening and we will return at around 7:30”. I did not want to wait until 7:30 sot see when they might arrive so I walked over to the gas station, bought a bar of soap for $4 and went back and showered and used the stained hand towels. After I left the room I went to Hardys and got breakfast. I would not recommend this hotel and based on the service and amenities – its definitely not worth the $87 I paid for it. I won’t stay there again.

Typical low-end hotel While not expecting luxury, and it did meet my basic needs, it's not a quality experience. It needs maintenance, cleaning, and attention to detail. (See photos). The bed was fine; the TV worked; the price was ~$100/night; and access/parking was easy. But there is damage in the room, carpet needs replacing, freezer in fridge didn't work, dirty lap shades, broken window screen, and a filthy AC filter (Always check it !).

Horrible Avoid at all costs. There is NO breakfast, black coffee is available but no creamer, even the cheap powdered kind. Dingy, run down, just spotted a roach crawling on the nightstand, mattress is lumpy and squeaky, bed linens are worn and cheap, checking out of here in the morning for sure! Managerial and corporate intervention is needed.

You get what you pay for A perfectly fine cheap hotel in a convenient location. Sort of shabby, but clean, no elevator, a good bed.
