We will not return On another site I read that the hotel was within walking distance to everything that the reviewer needed — apparently, all they needed was booze and Mexican food. All that was within walking distance was bar, a small restaurant and a liquor store that closed at 10 p.m. We would have been able to make it there by 10 had the clerk spoken any English, after waiting for her to call someone to come to the office and check us in, it was too late, they had just closed. The room smelled very musty, what was supposed to be white towels were gray, and cigarette burns in the sheets, blanket and comforter. Overall it was not well cleaned, and the furniture is old and worn. The only amenities were two small bars of soap — there wasn't even a box of tissues. I could overlook the lack of amenities if it had at least been clean.

Road Stop The hoyel is conveniently located near I-40. The rooms were a little dated, but so clean and welcoming. The owners were onsite and very nice. They serve a basic continental breakfast. We will definitely be stopping here on our next trip through Tennessee. They even allow pets.

Exactly What I Needed A senior citizen, I was making my first solo cross-country trip with my daily drives totally determined by sunrise and sunset times. I needed a place that would allow me flexibility to make and break reservations pretty much at the last minute. Dean could not have been nicer. He completely understood. At 4:30 I called to tell them I would in fact be there by 6:30. When I arrived just before sundown after an 11-hour drive, they had a convenient room waiting for me, and the woman working at the desk was very helpful. I loved pulling right up to my door--especially nice since I had to unload and load everything by myself. When I sent my husband a picture of the outside and inside, he asked, "how do you find such a homey place?" It was completely clean and comfortable and had everything I needed. I was able to relax and enjoy watching my son's Nationals win their first World Series game ever (sorry Astros fans), enjoying the sopapilla I had just bought from the Mexican grill on the other side of the parking lot. My walk to and from the grill enabled me to gaze on the peaceful lake right across the street. I will look forward to the next time I get to spend a night here.
