R.I.P. Novotel As we were traveling by train the location of the hotel was very convenient. A walk to the île and inner city took us approximately 30 minutes, but several public transportation possibilities were right in front of the door too. The place around the station is undergoing rehabilitation that's why the whole area looked like a big construction site. Our window was directed at the station and a half demolished part of the building. But who bothers, we used the room for sleeping and not sitting at the window enjoying the view _ And the room was really nice! The breakfast was amazing and the staff was really nice and spoke English very well. In the course of the reconstruction also Novotel was about to be demolished. We were the last guests there! The staff (all wearing helmets) had decorated the reception area with balloons and construction signs and every guest got a cup as a goodbye present. I don't know if Novotel will be rebuilt there and what it will look like but I'm sure the quality of the stay will be as good or even better as we experienced.

Interesting Room was a bit on the small side but it was clean and the hotel is in a decent location. The underground car park is also on the small side and the entrance can be a challenge to find the first time you get there.

Did not "feel welcome" The hotel is in the middle of a huge construction site right in front of Lyon Part-Dieu. We were not told this as we booked over the phone. There is construction everywhere... They also don't tell you that the hotel is being torn-down in June, and no maintenance is to be done until then (understandably)... if we had known we would never have stayed there for our planned fun-filled family get-away... And it gets better: As we were going back to the hotel, our son (5 years old) cut himself on the broken entrance window. It has apparently been broken for a while but never replaced or even taped for protection. In passing he touched the window and cut his finger and was bleeding a lot. At the reception the gentleman standing there allowed himself some jokes that were not really appropriate ("maybe we should amputate") while my son was screaming and bleeding, instead of showing any sign of empathy... I was very angry and saddened that a hospitality professional showed so little sympathy for a little boy that hurt himself. Not a great image. Luckily another young lady gave us bandages and disinfectant. No apology was offered. We were just told a construction truck broke the window and it won't be replaced as the hotel is due to be torn down... that's it.

Very bad Unfriendly staff, specially at the bar/ restaurant, not customer oriented. Would definitely not recommend you can find much better in the center of Lyon. Not worth 4 stars, rooms are old and stink and the noise of the station is significant

Comfortable, clean and convenient Clean and comfortable in the center of Lyon, 2 minutes from the main train station Lyon Part Dieu. The hotel is quite old, but still in good conditions. It's not the most fancy of Lyon, but will do a good job.
