Convenient location while visiting parks in the area. We enjoyed our 2 night stay at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Mesquite. Nice spacious room, clean bathroom with lots of counter space for toiletries. We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Breakfast was adequate. This was a convenient location while visiting Gold Butte National Monument and Valley of Fire State Park. I considered giving it 4 stars because some of the staff was in their own world, unwilling to help much. We were there on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and we wanted to ask if they had a list of open restaurants in the area. They didn't, and were indifferent in providing much help. If i were a manager of a hotel welcoming guests on holidays when the majority of restaurants are closed, i would definitely make sure to provide them with a list of what is open for dining in the area. I would consider staying here again, but would also probably look at some more affordable options in the area since i didn't think the value for money was great.

Holiday Inn Express please do better I could not believe the condition of my room. I found it hard to believe there were rooms worse than ours but after reading some of the reviews I guess that was normal. Our room had plastic over all of the windows the carpet was old and filthy. The floor in the bathroom felt like it was caving in. The tile had huge cracks in it and wobbled. We were not told when we made the reservations that it was under construction. Very disappointed it looked worse than some of the other places there and was priced way higher. There was no compensation for this nightmare and they still charged us 75$ for my small dog. I am sure holiday inn express has quality control for their brand. This was totally unsatisfactory and to make matters worse, customer service was rude and not at all understanding. Please do better.

Wait until renovation is done While the room was clean, it is in obvious need of updating. We were not told either on the website or when making the reservation that renovations are being made at this time. I hope that the room we were in, a king suite, will be updated, as we had the dented and torn headboard, as mentioned by other reviewers here. The room lighting was pretty dim, which is fine until you have to try to pack or find something before daylight is available. We did not use the pool, so I don’t know how clean it is (I will say that it is usually windy in Mesquite, which has to make keeping outdoor pools clean difficult). Breakfast was typical chain hotel fare - no real coffee choice but it was decent enough. Our biggest complaint was the $75 nonrefundable pet policy - had we realized that it was nonrefundable, we would have gone elsewhere. Bed was comfortable enough. Let’s hope the renovation includes updating the rooms with USB ports, undamaged furniture, and enough light to see your things.

Save your money Holiday Inn Express is usually very good but this property is the exception. It is open during renovation but did not know it was under renovation when we made the reservations. There was excessive dust in the lobby and wires hanging from the walls in the halls. The pool was filthy so we didn't use it. On the positive side the staff is excellent, but they should reveal they are under renovation when reservations are made. The room was spacious but the AC and the bathroom fan were extremely loud. Despite the positives, it was definitely not worth the almost $300 a night.

Dump This place was a dump. Terrible staff. TV was broken and couldn’t be fixed. Headboards and room furniture were torn. Breakfast was mediocre at best. Bad location with no good restaurants. Was told by manager that I would receive award benefits as compensation- never received.Avoid at all costs.
