Candlewood Suites Downtown by IHG

Clean but the stale cigarette smoke was overwhelming This perfectly located hotel has you sign a separate form promising you will not smoke in their rooms. The problem with that policy is that clearly these rooms once allowed smokers. A lot of smokers. We stayed on floor one and the room, while clean and presentable, reeked of stale cigarettes. It was really bad. While we strongly support a no smoking policy, this requires that these places enforce the policy.

Confirmed reservations don’t mean anything at this hotel Apparently confirmed reservations don’t mean anything at this hotel. I reserved a room via the IHG app the day of our stay (yesterday, April 5, 2024). Gave my credit card, got a confirmation number. Even got a notice that if we no-showed our card would get charged for the night. After a 6 hour drive, we get to the hotel a bit after 8 pm. After confirming my reservation in the computer, the woman at the front desk tells me that they have no rooms. I ask how is that possible since I have a confirmed reservation. She then tells me that they’re fully booked for the night and the hotel policy is that when they’re fully booked, they’ll give any unoccupied rooms to walk ins. Which is, as she told me, what happened. That is the stupidest policy I’ve ever heard. Also, this woman gave not one iota of a care that my family and I had a confirmed reservation and now had to go find another hotel after a long day of travel. We ended up at the Holiday Inn down the street, the staff at which was very kind and were appalled at my experience at this Candlewood Suites. Go to the Holiday Inn instead.

Friendly staff & clean I stayed here while I'm town visiting family and I love that the common area near the pool was open until 10 & had enough seating for several of my family members to come visit and swim and watch TV and chill out afterwards. The suite was very nice and clean and we really enjoyed our stay. There are also restaurants to walk to nearby.

Nothing fancy but comfortable Helpful staff. Clean room. You can tell older. Patching on ceiling, older shower heads, etc but nice enough. Downtown close to conference center. Most hotels around it are more expensive. Comfortable beds and pillows. No breakfast but offers small market to buy things. Close to restaurants

Great beds Nice room in a good location. Pet friendly with on site parking. Pretty convenient to all places downtown. The beds were the most comfortable we've slept on in a while and made it a memorable stay. Very friendly staff too. We'd definitely stay here again.
