Horrible time at the econolodge in Monroe We came here to celebrate my daughters 14th birthday. We got to the hotel and there were ants in the room which I ignored because I figured hey it happens ao we go down to the pool and that’s when nonsense happened. 4 kids were playing in the pool and a lady came in to tell them if they couldn’t be quiet that she would shut down the pool. The door is open to the pool room and when I asked if we could shut the door so that way she couldn’t hear us in the lobby she said the ventilation system is broken so the door has to be open which I’m not sure how long that has been broken but it doesn’t look like anyone is here to fix it … mind you just talking in a normal voice creates a massive echo in this room. She then proceeds to tell me that she has had 3 guests call down and say they can’t sleep because of my kids playing in the pool… it’s 7:50pm when she came in which I pointed out to her and the pool is open until 10pm. The pool also sits off to the side of the building and isn’t underneath any rooms. She said that the cost of the stay only covers the rooms and the amenities such as the pool could be shut down to respect other more important guests. Because us buying two rooms is not important enough apparently. On top of all of this there is plaster from the ceiling caving in all over the pool room. I don’t ever complain but I came on here just to let other people know to stay away from this establishment.

Credit Card Deposit Nightmare We were not happy at check-in when there was a hundred dollar deposit required that we were NOT aware of when we booked on the website. It only said a valid credit card was required at check-in! We are Choice Privileges Diamond members and this was a points night on the last night of our 6 week vacation. We had used almost all of our U.S. cash and did not want the deposit on our Canadian credit card because of the loss in the exchange rate putting deposit on and then crediting it back. Tasha was great and called the owner to see if it was a "hold" or was a charge. We were assured it was only a hold and if the room had no damages it would be removed at check-out. Because we made such a fuss, Tasha told us that she removed it 2 hours later. After getting back to Canada I checked our credit card statement a couple of days later, and there were 2 charges totalling a hundred dollars but NO credit! I contacted the hotel, and NEVER received a response. I also contacted Choice Hotels, and no response at all! I called our credit card company and disputed the charge. I asked her if she saw a reversal of the charge anywhere and she did not. An investigation was opened, and long story short a reversal showed up about a week later, but the date of it was the SAME day we checked in!! And we did take a loss on the transaction! The worst thing is our room was never inspected for damage, and since we were told it was reversed we didn't take any pictures to have proof the room was in the same condition that we found it. Totally unacceptable, with no accountability! Tasha was amazing, but we will NEVER be back to this hotel. Which is a shame since the beds were comfortable, the room was clean, and breakfast was pretty good.

PLEASE SEE MY PICTURES BEFORE BOOKING! Bedbugs and broken glass (flat tires) This is not my first time traveling, I have been to all 50 states! I booked this hotel far in advance for a GREAT price on Hotwire. When I got to the property they claimed that they did not have my Hotwire reservation. After contacting Hotwire they verified that I did have a PREPAID reservation. The hotel would not honor the previous rate, the owner’s name is Nav. The employee Erica was AWESOME, but the after calling they would not honor a previous prepaid rate. There were two employee who appeared to be working really hard, but still there were broken alcohol bottles all over the parking lot. I just put new Michelin titles on my car will management reimburse me for a flat tire/replacement. If I have to call an exterminator to remove bed bugs from my home after sitting in the lobby will management reimburse me, please see close ups of pictures? The employee Erica was AWESOME and tried to help. Also, there was another worker working really hard cleaning etc…

Save your money & Choice Points The first room we were given had moldy, barely usable AC, dirty floors and sub-standard conditions. Room 317 was a train wreck. When we approached the front desk there were other issues with guests (items not working in their rooms) so we knew we were in for a long evening. The second room we were given was barely any better. The AC did work, but the room was dirty and food was left in the fridge from a previous guest. Not all appliances worked which is unacceptable (light flickered, fridge was warm). Safety hazards included a warped floor that bowed and the shower floor was slippery with a film on it so we had to stand on a bath towel to keep from falling. The jets in our jacuzzi room tub did not work, the drain plug was left in a dirty plastic cup, noticeable facial hair was left in the bathroom sink and there is no privacy for the guest when using the bathroom. There is a large purposely designed opening in the wall (approximately 36" x 36") from the bathroom to the couch area / sleeping area making this a disturbing place to use the toilet or take a shower. A moldy shower curtain is all that separates you from the rest of the room. We are happy to provide photos of this. The pictures on the website are old, outdated and deceiving as they do not reflect the actual room layout. We never would have booked a room with this hotel if these features had been disclosed on the website. Both owners were on-site behind the desk while this was going on. The wife crossed her arms and said she would talk to housekeeping. She responded so quickly and with a canned reply like she has this rehearsed and has said this many, many times and was in no way surprised to hear or comments. Instead of waiting to talk to housekeeping why wasn't she volunteering to see the room or work to fix this on the spot like we have encountered with other Choice hotels. The husband seemed completely disinterested in hearing about our complaints and continued to assemble a TV at the front desk like that was the most important issue he cared to deal with. They showed zero interest in proactively solving these issues that are glaring around the hotel. We sincerely hope that Choice would consider removing them from their roster of hotels. As a longtime Choice member we have expectations that we will have a clean and safe stay and neither of these standards were kept.
