Best stay ever SO clean and the gentleman at the front desk was PHENOMENAL. Thank you for making our stay special by lighting us a fire! You were so personable and really made this hotel worth 5 stars. It was our family’s last night together in Big Sur and it went off with a fabulous ending.

It worked for a week There is not enough parking for the number of rooms and the parking spaces are small. There is some parking on the street beside the Vietnamese restaurant. The room was quite spacious and everything fairly clean.

f you need a place to stay with your pet and you don't mind the place being run down and a little dirty So i'll start with the negative: The room we booked was supposed to be for a King bed. When we got there we were told that it wasn't available. We were given a room with a queen size bed. The room is in desperate need of updates. The bedsheets and blanket are paper thin, the walls are full of peeling or scraped off paint and there was a randomly placed screw in the window frame (see pic). The curtains look like they've been chewed on by something big. (see pic) There was a half done repair to the bathroom door (see pic) and lots of wall and door surfaces that are in need of a good scrubbing. (see pic) There is no coffee maker in the room or coffee available in the lobby. We found out on our last night that our landline phone didn't even work, it didn't have a dial tone. The wood stairs that lead to the second story are cracked, creaky and feel spongy or weak when you step on them. Last, we had a good 45 minutes of constant racket. A man who i think is the manager was out in the parking lot trying to break a wooden pallet with a 2x4. Now to the positive: Our pets were allowed in our room with no fee. That's the BIG reason why we stayed here. Parking was always available. The room didn't smell like dog or dog pee which makes me believe that they disinfect the floors after each guest. The floors are hard surface so any little accidents are easy to clean up with paper towels and lysol wipes. Unlike other motel 6 locations this one isn't full of "working women" and all the noises and foot traffic that come with that. The refrigerator, microwave tv and ac worked well. Even though they only place 3 pillows on your bed there was a 4th one stored and available. There is also a safe in the room for any valuables that you need to leave unattended. Overall i give this hotel 3 stars. If you need a place to stay with your pet and you don't mind the place being run down and a little dirty this is the place for you.

A decent dog friendly hotel Because we had a dog, we had fewer options for hotels. We decided on Motel 6 and it was a good choice. The room was newly remodeled a was spacious. We had a fridge and microwave but no coffeemaker. The beds and pillows were confortable. Because of Covid there is no coffee offered. We drove to nearby Starbucks to get ours. Across from the motel there is a Vietnamese restaurant for those who likes Asian food.

Solid motel, for the budget motel line Quick thoughts: a: As long as one is aware that they're staying at a chain budget motel, then this is a solid choice especially for Monterey because there appears to be a wide range of quality and prices for motels in this region. We stayed at this dump several blocks away from this place; it was twice as expensive and a total dump. b: In general, Motel 6 has done a good job in updating their motels across the country; the rooms are clean, more modern looking, the bathrooms, beds, floors; all updated and thus two thumbs up for corporate in keeping up with the times. c: Bottomline: if you're looking for clean and simple lodgings for a fair price; look no further than Motel 6.
