Beautiful area What a bustling area. First, then General Store looks like a shack from the outside. Inside it’s a very nice gift shop, coffee counter and grocery store with delicious fresh pastries. Then there is the Ranch House Restaurant where we stopped for lunch, it was very good. Next is the beautiful Visitor Center right on Colter Bay of Jackson Lake with the Grand Teton Mountains on the opposite shore. The Visitor Center even has a small Indian Art Gallery that’s nice. Further down is the incredibly beautiful pebble beach. This doesn’t even include the camping and boating you can do here. It’s just a cool area to check out, we even saw a Mule deer and a Pine squirrel.

Poor Management and Maintenance-Colter Bay/Jackson Lake Lodge Colter Bay village is one of the oldest and least upgraded facilities in the National Park System. This is a poorly maintained and managed village. Apparently, Vail Resorts is the corporation that picked up this lodging location. Vail mainly focuses its attention on Ski Resorts. Vail does well with Ski Resorts but not National Park lodging facilities. There is only one food option in Colter Bay and definitely not worth the money. The only bright spot is the view and the boating on the lake, other than that, I would suggest a day trip to the Tetons and stay in Jackson Hole.

Great morning hikes We stayed in a cabin at Colter Bay and I was very surprised and pleased with how much space we had in the room. The bathroom was snug, but manageable. The Village offered amenities with a Store and a couple of restaurants on site, which had good food. We hiked the trailhead at the beach, which offered incredible views of the mountians.

Spacious cabin! We stayed here for 3 nights after staying in two other hotels in Yellowstone. I was grateful to have more space for my kids and access to laundry facilities. We stayed in Cabin 12. It had two full size beds and a twin. The cabin, while it shows some wear, was mostly clean. There was a couch that looked like it had a few months’ worth of dust bunnies under it. The location is beautiful. I wish there were more breakfast options but the breakfast we had at the restaurant was very good. We would stay again.

Colter Bay Cabins Colter Bay is a great location with amenities nearby. We stayed in a cabin, July 2024. We found the cabin to be very clean and well maintained. There was a coffee maker available in the room. No fridge or kitchenette as no cooking is allowed. We did go to the picnic area to make our supper one night, that worked pretty well, so bring your camping stuff if you want to do that. Otherwise, there is a couple of restaurants in ColterBay and a general store. The dirt/rocky walkway to the front door of the cabin was steeply sloped, which I found tricky to navigate, especially when carrying bags into the cabin. It was not accessible for anyone with walking issues and certainly not wheelchair accessible. If you require something accessible, I suggest calling and discussing how to make those arrangements. I noticed a few of the cabins had entries that were level to the road. There is no AC, which was no problem as we had a ceiling fan. I brought my own box fan and this worked great as it fit on the window sill and brought cool air in during the evening. We had temps in the high 80s during the day, cooled down into the 50s overnight.
