Super 8 by Wyndham Ottawa

Mean & nasty The receptionist is beyond rude. She kept me in the lobby for 45 minutes, first trying to up charge us but saying they only accept cash. We didn’t have any cash so the lady went on and on about how she can refuse us service and everything. It was mind blowing, as none of my group is the least bit confrontational.

Not very pet friendly I reserved a room at the Super 8 in Ottawa, KS as it is a pet friendly motel. I typically stay at the Comfort Inn, but they do not allow pets. I looked up Super 8 and they do allow pets. I made the reservation online and checked in. After checking in the front desk worker came to my room and asked if I had a dog. I said I did and showed her my dog. She said the room was not a pet room and I needed to leave. I asked if there was a pet room available. The worker said she would have to check. The worker called my room and said there was a pet room available. I went downstairs to change rooms where the owner and the front desk worker said I would have to pay a $100 cleaning fee for the room I was in for less than 10 minutes. I left the hotel and booked a room at SureStay Hotel. Today while reviewing my bank records I had two charges one for $98.25 and another for $50.00 I called the Super 8 to have them reimburse me $48.25 due to the cleaning fee should have been $100. I paid a total of $148.25. I spoke with a front desk worker who did not have authorization to reimburse me and I would have to call back on the afternoon. I called back and the front desk worker said they charged me the room rate plus the cleaning fee and she could not authorize any reimbursement. She said the owners specifically would not reimburse me. Do not stay here if you can help it. The front desk workers tried to work with me from the miscommunication but the owner would not.

Old This place needs major upgrades, price point is lower but not worth it. Breakfast area is right in the check in area, ery uncomfortable. Pool hasnt worked in 2 to 3 months and they are waiting for service, felt more like and excuse, think they dont want to spend the money on having it run.

Clean room Our room was clean but I called to make sure the pool was open and operating two hours before checkin and was assured it was. Checked in and was told it was closed. That was the one thing we wanted an open indoor pool.

Musty smelling room Air conditioner needed cleaned or filter changed. Very musty smelling room. Room was neat and clean. Nobody was at check out, so just left keys on counter. It was within walking distance to a restraunt.
