Utah Mountain Escape. We needed to beat the Las Vegas heat for a couple days. This was our first time here. We rented one of the cabins for a great price. It's rustic but, all the basics are included. Bedding, fridge, stove, micro, oven, plates, utensils, bath, shower and a window fan. Views of the lake through the pines. Our unit had a "back" with fire ring and picnic table. Wi-Fi was available at the Café and outdoors on the deck or at the tables across the lot with a view of the lake. It's local to all the fishing with it's own boats for rent with a dock right on the lake.

Fishing trip The cabin we rented was VERY dirty. There were many dead bugs in the cupboard where the dishes were, and there was unwashed silverware. There was dust and dirt on top of the refrigerator, microwave, stove, countertops, table, sink, mirror in the bath, basically everywhere. When it was brought to the managers attention they cleaned only what was pointed out and left the rest. The people next to us parked their truck, boat and trailer on the entrance right behind our parked vehicles making it difficult to get in and out of our parking area. I was told there was parking for boats across the highway by the lake yet management did not tell them to move their boat there. I would NOT recommend this place and will never stay there again.

Campground Spent the weekend at Bear Paw campground in our 26 foot travel trailer. First of all, the lake gets five stars. It’s beautiful and temps are a cool get away from the heat. The sites are incredibly close to each other. Our camper was about ten feet from our neighbor. We had about six feet behind us for the campfire pit and table. Luckily we didn’t have friends along as there wouldn’t have been space to comfortably fit more chairs around the fire. If your trailer is over 15 feet, strongly reconsider or if you enjoy being very close to the next campers. We had to inquire about how to even get our trailer out when leaving. The three people we asked each gave a different suggestion which all started with “Well you might be able to fit if you . . . “ Needless to say, the safest bet was a rather steep decline, sharp turn while avoiding bushes, rocks and a thick cable wire wrapped in rubber connecting a cabin to the ground, we got as close as possible to the large rocks in order to make the turn all the while scraping the entire side on the bushes and cable on the other side. The cable rubbed against the awning until it finally hit the motor area and completely snapped off the protective cover. What a mess. When that happened, it was the final reason to never come back.

Cafeteria food. Grey meat. Canned veggies Need I say more? We ordered the prime rib- a weekend special- and it arrived to the table thin, dry and grey. This is a special? The rib-eye steak (I was told was the last one, but then saw the table next to me order it??) was thin too- but not grey at least. Mashed potatoes came with deep brown gravy that reminded me of middle school lunch. The only great thing about this place was the view of the lake.

May not be quite what you expect We had the privilege to stay at Bear Paw Resort. Having never been there before we found it quite interesting. The cabins are very RUSTIC. I mean rustic. We had mice the first night but was able to chase it out. The personnel came the next day as it was after hours and tried to seal the holes in the walls. The personnel are great and the owners (took back the property last year) are trying to repair the damage from the previous owner. The lake itself is great. Lots of fish. Knowing what I know about the resort, I might stay again. Not quite sure. If you like to rough it, then go for it.
