Vacation stay at Foothills Inn Rapid City SD We decided to book this hotel while traveling on vacation thru Rapid City SD, This is a nice uniquely appointed hotel with some sort of old school charm, Was in a good location, Had a very nice outdoor pool and lounging area, Staff was friendly and Rooms were very clean and Comfortable as well and towels were good quality....everyone in our group got a good nights sleep here. Rooms were also pretty spacious and had decent Wifi. Reason giving it 4 rather than 5 stars is while Pillows and linens were very comfy the beds were a bit on the firmer side. If you like a little firmer bed it would be just fine for you as was a friendly and clean place but was a little bit of a firmer bed. And bathroom area was very tight or tiny there wasn't much space between the toilet and tub area at all. It did have a larger vanity area outside the bathroom though for getting ready in the morning. Had good water and water pressure. Overall for the price paid it was a very good deal for the area and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Was good value overall and good location too.

Comfortable but pricier Quieter location away from downtown, but only 2 miles from I-90, and less than 1 mile from a few restaurants, mini golf, and a Walmart. Friendly check in & out. Large room. Clean. Mostly quiet. Beds were fairly comfortable. Free parking. Good Wi-Fi. A/C, fridge, microwave worked fine. Vending machines with snacks and sodas. Ice machine worked well, though there was only 1 for the building. Large pool. It was a bit pricier than comparable rooms in nearby towns. Room was carpeted, like all I motels in which I stayed in Wyoming, Montana, and South Dakota. No elevator (only 2 floors)

Fraudulent Charges DO NOT STAY HERE! I had already paid for the room but they charged us an additional charge that was double the original price AND will not give back the $100 deposit. They claimed we had a dog in the room but we don’t even own a dog. My best guess is that they saw someone else with a dog but do not want to do the proper research to actually find out who had a dog in their establishment. I’ve tried calling them everyday to resolve this issue and I get contradicting information. They’ll say they have a manager and I need to call back or they’ll claim that they never have a manager on property. They lie to you and claim that they have camera proof but the only information they can give us are things we’ve already told them. And when they’re caught in their lie, they’ll hang up on you.

Stay elsewhere The positive-Pam at the front desk was cheerful and very helpful with changing our room from 2nd floor to first floor as there is no elevator. Negatives-hotel is very outdated, carpet is stained and wrinkled, room smelled like smoke, sketchy people outside nearby, lots of long dark hairs on bathroom floor, stains on box springs…need I go on? I’d advise you spend a little more and stay elsewhere.

Decent Property, But Photocopy of photo ID kept by management This is a decent facility that is well kept. The breakfast is basic cereal and toast continental breakfast served in a small and often crowded lobby plus a Jimmy Dean sausage egg croissant passed out one by one like the British Army passing out ammunition at the Battle of Isandlwana (See "Zulu Dawn" with Burt Lancaster). There are repeated threats to charge your card $250 for a variety of stains if found in your room. At check in they demanded my Driver License and then photocopied it. They kept the photocopy during my stay. This included my full name, date of birth, citizenship, signature, DL number and ID photos that appear in both Public Safety and Citizenship records. These are the seeds of identity theft. They were retaining it for their "security", but didn't show concern about my security. They kept it in an open desk top file behind the counter. If you have concerns about identity theft, this may not be the place for you.
