Convenient and comfortable. This was a very nice hotel. The grounds and facilities were well maintained, the staff welcoming and friendly, and our room was comfortable and quiet. Add to all if that the fantastic Halloween decorations both inside and out that made for a pleasurable stay.

No pool and lack of kindness We booked this hotel solely because it had a pool. It advertises that it has a pool. I had promised my young granddaughters that after 12 hours in the car with their mom, me and fussy baby brother on trip home to MI from FL their reward would be to swim. We checked in, exhausted from being up since 4:30 am, about 6 pm, lugged everyone and everything up to the room. Then I took the girls down to check out the pool. CLOSED. I went to the desk where the clerk explained that their general manager who was the only one certified to open the pool had recently resigned, hence no pool. No empathy or regret or anything resembling being sorry to disappoint with two little crestfallen girls standing there, a stance she maintained throughout our interactions that resulted in us relocating to the Holiday Inn Expess & Suites in Mineral Wells 30 minutes away. There, the desk clerk Angel was wonderful and kind, the pool was functioning as advertised and the overall experience couldn’t have been more different from what happened at the Ripley properly. Highly recommend if wanting to stay at HIE&S in Ripley area, choose Mineral Wells.

THI We were assured that we could extend checkout until 2PM and based our entire stay and choice of hotel around that as we were traveling for business with a pet. AFTER check-in we were informed that they wouldn’t honor this time. I don’t appreciate being lied to in order to get my business. Once in the room, we found a stale muffin in the floor, a dingy shower floor and shower without all parts secured which nearly resulted in an accident that could have been fatal. The individual who checked us in and out while not to blame for corporate lies, had absolutely no personality for customer service. In fact, they charged someone else’s room to our card on check in and I had to point out the error and have them correct it. I’ve been pleased with the stays in Charleston, WV at this hotel but had never tried another. I won’t stay outside the Charleston location again and I certainly won’t recommend this chain to anyone at any time going forward. Did I mention that when they called to ask about my stay, they were completely disrespectful with flippant remarks when I said my experience was not ideal. “Copy that,” is not a professional response. I was going to let it go until that call. As a result of their attitude there, I’m here leaving this review. Apparently others have had much better experiences. Sorry I can’t say the same.

POORLY MANAGED, BUG INFESTED DO NOT STAY HERE! Bugs everywhere in our room... ceiling, furniture, heater... front desk acted annoyed, didn't want to move us, just offered to "vacuum the bugs up. " Gross!!!! We insisted on being moved and were told, okay, but that means we have to clean another room. So what!! We got moved to the room across the hall(only 2 bugs on the ceiling in that room). Second problem...I forgot my souvenir from Universal Studios. Called the front desk when I realized it after we got home to michigan. Stated housekeeping found it and they would let the manager know to call me so she can mail it. Never received a call back after I called several times over the week. I finally spoke to Becka, the asst mngr. She took my credit card number and promised to mail it the next day and would call me with the tracking number. 2 weeks went by, I heard nothing. I called back a few more times, finally on a day when Becka was there and was told by the young man who answered the phone that Becka said your card didn't work. That's a bunch of BS, my visa works just fine. I asked that she return my call to confirm the numbers. No call back. So I called corporate... hopefully they can do something about this. What a poorly run hotel.

Poor management, bug infested. Room was relatively clean. Hotel was very busy. After checking in went to dinner then to the room. After an hour or so, saw a couple of "spots" on the ceiling over the bed. Upon further investigation, the spots were actually insects. Killed two and looked around closer discovering several more insects on the ceiling and the floor. Decided this was not the place for us. Went to the front desk, desk clerk said they knew about the bugs (she called them ladybugs, I researched and believe them to be carpet beetles) and that they were working to get rid of them. Refused to give a refund but did offer to "sweep up the dead ones". Since the clerk admitted they knew about the bugs, that should have been disclosed at check in. Desk clerk called the manager who refused to provide a refund. We left and travelled almost 40 miles to find an acceptable room. They could not provide a receipt nor a business card of any type for a manager. They promised a receipt the next day via email, still have not received and no answer when calling. IHG should be able to do better!
