Great place to stay We have stayed at this hotel since my mother was diagnosed with ALS a year ago. We go to mayo once every 3 months and the staff at clarion is by far the best! The rooms and pool area are always clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast has great options from hot to cold items. We have never been disappointed with the room service the food is excellent! Oh and I can't say enough about Marty the shuttle driver, he is our gardian angel! He is always super helpful and gives great laughs to and from mayo. A ray of sunshine through the storm! I recommend this hotel to everyone if they are going to Rochester for anything. We will continue to stay with them until our trips to mayo are over which will be a sad day! Thank you all for being soooooo amazing! We appreciate each one of you!

Horrible Customer Service Bully I stayed at the Clarion hotel in Rochester, MN 4/21/16 + 4/22/16. I made reservations online with my choice privileges. When I checked in the front desk gentleman told me he had to rework the reservation due to the fact wet paid in cash. He had me sign an agreement about the rate which was less than the internet offered. I did and I asked for a copy. Later I came down to the front desk to get new keys as ours did not work. The general manager told me their was a discrepancy in my rate and I owed more. I told her I had already signed the rate agreement. She asked how many people would be staying I said 2-4. She said that was why it went up. Then slammed down the key cards. Fifteen minutes later a hotel staff member came to our door to ask how many people we have staying in our room because they needed to know a towel count. Later another came for the same reason. That felt very harassing. As if we were not able to have guests. The next day we could not obtain breakfast coupons because they didn't want extra people in the breakfast room. My friend Rachel stayed with me. We were in a pool tournament that weekend and members of or team came to visit. Finally, we checked out and was told housekeeping had to check the room before they could give us our deposit back. An hour later I came back to retrieve our deposit and was told $40 was withheld for damages to towels and sheets. They showed me pictures and I could not see any damages they were alleging. When I mentioned that I felt she was only charging us for damages because her staff undercharged our room, she called the police to have us removed for trespassing. I waited for the police and explained to them my problem and they weren't able to do anything for me but escort me to the door then escort us out of the parking lot. I was humiliated in front of our friends. We never received complaints were told of any problems. We definitely were treated as though we were not welcome there ever again. I thought charging for damages was an extreme measure to pay for items or repairs not mistakes made by staff. The right I have to argue this charge was met with a police escort. Please do not disregard this message. I am 46 years old and I do not drink alcohol and do not believe we deserved such treatment. I have enclosed the pictures that were shown to me. Thank you, Ann-Marie Kirkhus

Old but everything anyone would ever need. Old does not bother us, because we always look for the side-accommodations that benefit the needs of our daughter and granddaughter and us. One of the first things that we check is cleanliness, and the Clarion was very clean. We felt that our adjoining rooms were adequate space-wise. The beds were comfortable. We had all of the amenities of home: fridge, microwave, TV, computer hook-up. The continental breakfast was really great, and the service afforded us was better than we usually have had in other hotels/motels. The shuttle service was also really great. It was comforting not to have pack onto a "general" van service that stops at several (or more) other motels before getting to the Mayo Clinic. We had no concerns about being late for our granddaughter's appointments. The front desk staff was amazingly courteous and helpful. They made sure that we had adjoining rooms to accommodate our granddaughter's special needs. They did all that they could do to afford us the best rates available. We definitely recommend the Clarion to those whose look for quality of service and adequacy, not just the unnecessary "glitz" of a newer, shinier building. Thank you.

Older property The hotel was clean and the check-in staff were pleasant. But the building itself was very dated. The rooms were very small and cramped and the beds were very uncomfortable. Next to the pool is a large open space with tables and chairs, the roof over this area leaked. We had to move a table and set of chairs so that it didn't leak on the table and people around the table.
