Quick Stop The beds were very comfortable compared to other hotels. The hotel was easy to find and just over the border. There were several restaurants that were easy to find. We noticed a mildew smell which was the only complaint, but otherwise, the hotel was very nice and quiet.

It's Great to Stay in Point Edward, ON! Planning a trip to the Sarnia/Point Edward area? Consider staying at the Best Western Guildwood. It can be found on Venetian Blvd, along a strip of other hotels, straddling the subtle border between Sarnia and Point Edward. The location is perfect - a quick drive/bike ride/walk to the casino/restaurant, Centennial Park, fish n chips, Bluewater Bridge Park that hosts delicious french fry trucks, fish feeding activity, Native monument, and a wonderful pathway winding along the water that will take you to the Sarnia Yacht Club, and all the way to Canatara Beach Park. The tiny downtown area of Point Edward offers food, ice cream, and a few shops. The hotel is easy off/on the hwy and the border to the US. We could have choose any of the hotels along the hotel row, but the BW's modest accommodations, full sit-down breakfast, and price-point swayed us here this year. Staff was friendly and there are some rooms that offer parking right outside the rooms (access to room is from inside and out). It's a bit older than some of the newer hotels next door, but it is safe, clean, and the first-floor outside door access rooms are perfect if you have a lot of luggage, want in/out privacy, or if you have a dog. I've stayed here multiple times. No issues. Great sleep. We did not use the pool this time, but they do have an outside pool to chill by...

Dissapointing Breakfast Checked in on Sunday late afternoon. Hotel was nice and our room was clean and quiet. No problems other than as usual, older hotels just don’t have enough plugs for all our toys. That’s OK – we managed. We were surprised that the restaurant attached to the hotel, B & B Pub and Grill is closed for supper on the weekend. Luckily there was a Tim Horton in walking distance. The free breakfast in the mornings is in that restaurant. It’s not a normal BW buffet breakfast but a sit down order from a special menu. We were told the night before that breakfast was at 6:30 and since we wanted to hit the road early, it was perfect. Unfortunately, since it was Canada Day, breakfast was not until 7 am. We decided to wait. We were the first ones in there when they opened but of course, ordering from a menu, we waited little more then 10 minutes for our food. My husband ordered the pancakes with sausages which were very good but with the normal, they never give enough small syrup containers. I, unfortunately, ordered a basic breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, toast and it came with home fries. My eggs were runny, my bacon was see-through barely cooked and my toasts were burnt. Guess that's what happens when you're the first to order after they open. The home fries were very good as was the coffee. I would have liked a second cup but by then the place had filled up and the only waiter was running everywhere. We should have just left and eaten on the road. It was very disappointing. Not sure if I would stay there again.

Appalling If I could give this hotel a 0 as their rating I would. The service and standard of cleanliness at the hotel was appalling! We booked this hotel for a baseball tournament my son was participating in. When he checked he went to his room to drop off some gear before his game, and the bedding was dirty. He quickly notified the front desk and was told it would be cleaned. He left for his game. I called the hotel myself to ensure that it would be cleaned when they were out playing at their ball game and the front desk advised that they could not clean the bedding as they were not allowed into the room when the occupants were not there. Obviously this is a load of crap as housekeeping comes in and out of people's rooms to clean them when people are not in their rooms. He said they could pick up the bedding at the front desk and make it themselves. So on top of walking into a room with bedding that looked like it had feces on it, they now were supposed to strip off the dirty bedding and make it themselves. Unacceptable and I told the front desk staff this. I was told he would talk to manager and that it would be resolved most likely with a percentage of. My son came back from his game and got the bedding and they stripped off the dirty bedding and remade the bed. At some point during the stay the front desk staff advised my son he would receive a percentage discount. Okay fine. He went to check out on the Sunday and he checked with the staff that discount was applied and he confirmed it was. When I received the invoice via email, lo and behold the discount was not applied. I emailed customer service at the hotel and followed up with a call. I was advised that since the rooms were discounted because of a tournament they would not be able to honour the discount that they already advised to make up for the dirty linens. Needless to say this was unacceptable. 1) standard of cleanliness was unacceptable and if linens were dirty, surely the rest of the room was not cleaned properly either 2) the lack of problem solving on behalf of the hotel staff was ridiculous 3) the front desk staff member advised me that the manager could call me back when she is back from holidays in about a week and a half. I said surely someone must be able to handle these things while she is away and I was advised no. So when the manager is gone, apparently service at the hotel shuts down as apparently no one has any authority to handle any customer complaint situation. Do better!!
