Newly Renovated! I booked this hotel in advance before my return trip from visiting my family in the mid-Atlantic region. I book exclusively IHG Properties when I travel, so it just so happened this Candlewood Suites was in the area I was stopping in; as well as at a great price point. Although I have spent many nights at IHG Properties, this was the first time I have been at a Candlewood Suites. Reading the reviews I didn't have high hopes but, considering it was about $100 for a night out the door; there was no way I was going to pay $60 more to stay at the Holiday Inn or Holiday Inn Express that were close by. When I arrived at 7 pm to check-in I was greeted by an empty front desk with a “be right back”, or something to that extent sign. The phone was ringing, and I just stood there for around 15 minutes; helping another guest connect to the Wi-Fi along the way. When the clerk finally arrived, he was friendly and was willing to move my room to my preferred, top floor. Based on previous reviews I was skeptical but, the room was very much recently renovated. Everything was in working order and the room was clean other than a few hairs that weren't mine that popped. However, that will happen at 90% of places you stay no matter what the flag or specific brand you stay in. I had no issues with noise and slept soundly through the night in a new and comfortable bed, which was very firm; which I like personally. I was tired from the night before and didn't need to be at my next destination until later the next day. The front desk called me in the morning to see if I was leaving that day or staying over. It seemed somewhat odd that they would call and ask since I only booked one night but, either way it wasn't a burden. Overall, I was very happy with my stay. I would not let previous negative reviews keep you away as it is clear that the hotel has recently undergone major renovations. To address the elevator comment made my other former guests, I did hear a very small amount of noise only when going up before it would stop. Other than that it seems thah they have rectified the issue.

Right Off 95...but keep driving! Hotel was understaffed, room smelled and was not clean. Heater did not work and hotel had limited blankets to make up for it. We do the I-95 run often, and this was the worst of our hotel selections. I relooked at the reviews, and it seems like reviews since Covid have deteriorated!

Hotel of horror This is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in- with the exception of the staff- this was a terrible experience. First off, just walking into the hotel you can clearly see how dirty it is. Upon entering the elevator I was scared for my life. It shakes and makes noises like it’s about to fall down the shaft. Then walking through the hallways the floors are absolutely dirty like they have not been vacuumed in months. then as soon as we walked into the room I could see clearly there was food all over our floor, crumbs all over the countertops. Then there was opened food in our fridge, and open food in the cupboard. An open bag of rice sitting in the cabinet. I tried to blow dry my hair and my blow dryer was not working. So I asked the front desk for another blow dryer which they probably brought to me, except for that one did not work either. I had to go buy one at Walmart. The outside premises is full of trash and broken glass and bottles. This is at pet friendly hotel however, don’t walk your dogs around because it is disgusting and they will step on glass. One of the entrances into the hotel was propped open with a rubber mat, so that anyone can just walk into the hotel at any time. That is very unsafe. Do NOT stay here. There is a sign that says pardon our mess because they are under construction, I think they just put that up so they can just not clean that place ever. there was no construction.

Bait & Switch hotel room prices! I've stayed at this hotel at a discounted rate through a local company about 7 times during the last 2-1/2 years. When I arrived as scheduled on 8/5/22, with confirmed reservation in hand for a total cost of $259.08, I was matter-of-factly informed by the hotel manager that my actual cost was going to be a total of $555 instead. When I expressed both surprise & annoyance, he said that I had to prove my affiliation with the local company, & then when I questioned that (& said no one else had ever requested any additional information), he then said they no longer honored that arrangement. However, they had already confirmed my reservation with the correct information, nights of stay, & rate. I had the confirmation page in my hand--but that didn't make any difference! The manager mentioned that they were doing renovations.... Could that be why the huge increase in room rate--without any kind of warning or notification--to almost twice what was originally confirmed?! Just saying..... Since I was there on business, I thought I was stuck...but my wife found me the last king bed room in another local hotel, for much less than the total of $555 this hotel was going to charge me. So needless to say, I canceled the Candlewood Suites reservation, & will never stay there again! From the other recent reviews, it would seem that's a consensus! Travelers beware!

quick stay By the airport... a quick stay to house hunt. It served the purpose. No frills. No major complaints either. Pandemic time frame so not sure if we missed anything that they may have stopped due to covid
