Great hotel This recently had a renovation and it is beautiful. The rooms have light colored furniture and the beds are great. The best part was they removed all the tub /shower combos and put in spacious showers. The only complaint I had about the room was the fact that it took quite awhile to get hot water in the shower. The breakfast was the usual Hampton fare with waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage and all the breakfast breads and cereals. It is just off of what I would consider the historic district but definitely within walking distance and a trolly stop is just across the street.

Susan and Moody the best service! Moody in the dinning room was courteous and paid attention to details and cleanliness. Susan was phenomenal! She provide the BEST SERVICE I HAVE EVERY HAD! Just a wonderful cheerful kind and loving person! Definitely will come back because of her! My only complaint is the pillows weren’t washed and smelled.

A balancing act Lots of pluses for this recently renovated Hampton Inn. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with large walk in showers. The front desk is friendly, alert and appropriate. We witnessed a staff member telling a guest checking in with rambunctious children that she needed to subdue them. The little ones were running around the lobby as if it were a playground, and the staffer was absolutely correct with her admonishment. But the lovely lobby was not just disrupted by energetic kids; it was an assault to the nose. There must be a septic system problem as the lobby was saturated in a foul smell. It was like that for hours, still stinking at 10 p.m. when we returned from dinner. The location of the hotel is a bit of a challenge. Given the "historic" title; we thought we would be within easy walking distance of old town, but it really is not, and certainly not in the dark. So we took ubers as driving and parking in old town poses challenges as well. Given that you have to pay to park your car at the hotel, the extra $20+tip for transportation is a little annoying. But the most daunting of experiences was the view from the room. We were on the second floor overlooking the garbage area. But in all things you get what you pay for. And this is not an expensive hotel. So things balance out in the end.

Handicap I stayed at the Hampton Inn Historic St Augustine, FL. I have a handicapped placard, when I tried to park at the door closest to the elevator to my amaze no handicapped parking places instead they were 3 parking places for electric cars! This is unbelievable a person who has walking issues cannot park at the door!

Unfriendly front desk The front desk clerk was very unhelpful. My family and I arrived at 10:45AM and went to check in. The clerk advises me that check out time is 11AM, and I am unable to check in yet. I asked whether there is any room available and whether the hotel was fully sold out the night prior and she replies yes the hotel was sold out. I asked for a manager and there is miraculously 1 room available. After checking me in, it’s the same room I selected via mobile check in. What are the odds?!?! Parking is $20/night which is fine, but their approach to parking gives me the impression the hotel is very money hungry.
