Failed on the most basic level Barcelo failed at the most basic foundation. Because of the loud evening programs and poor noise insulation, the hotel failed to provide a relaxing night of sleep to me as a guest. The extras were definitely nice, but the property failed on the most basic level. I can live with the mold growing in the shower and the lack of hot water in the morning. I can live with the air conditioning condensation dripping onto the bathroom sink all night. But, when it comes to providing a night of sleep, this hotel failed miserably.

PUBIC HAIRS Arrived at 7pm, exhausted. Went to take shower and the grab bar is so loose that if my leg gave away (have a bad knee), I would pull the bar out of the wall. But the grossest part was when we were getting ready to sleep, pulled down the cover and sheet and found multiple PUBIC HAIRS inside. Absolutely disgusting. Tried calling guest services and the receptionist, but no one answered the phone. Trying to talk with the manager has been unsuccessful so far.

Not luxury but a good getaway. The facilities are comparable to a Disney Resort, the food is not the best but not too bad. The room was really nice, fluffy beds, with AC. We went while there was a school break so there were a lot of families. Unfortunately one of the downsides of an all inclusive resort is people tend to over do it with the alcohol. People would literally bring their 50oz tumblers to the bartenders and fill them up with alcohol, a lot of the people doing this were parents who would get drunk and let their kids unattended. Not all of the parents but enough to make it very annoying. Just because it is a family resort it does not mean you can leave your kids unattended. Or, that is what I think anyway. People would put a towel on a chair and go drink, to eat, or leave the pool area for hours leaving little left over to be used. I think my biggest pet peeve is the transportation service offered through the hotel for an additional fee. We were taken from the airport to the port where we took a 1.5 hr ferry and then picked up again and taken to the resort. A person I met while I was in the ferry told me the cost of the ferry is not oven $2.00 - and there is a way to get to the resort faster by car without changing cars. I feel like they need to be more transparent about that because we had to board the ferry ourselves with all our luggage without help. So if you may wants to see if there are other options for transportation directly to the hotel from the airport. Overall, it was a nice little get away, the staff was amazing and very attentive.

you can do better Good things first: The rooms are spacious and high quality, the grounds are well cared for, and the location is beautiful. Right on the grounds we saw many kinds of birds as well as a group of monkeys. The food was plentiful, but really nothing special. In terms of quality, it could have been any cafeteria. For the money, I would have wanted better. Then the service/management, wow. Several examples, here's just one. I got a massage that was brutal and not in a good way (I've had hundreds of massages and was a licensed massage therapist as well; I know what I'm talking about). I let the therapist know several times that she was hurting me. She'd back off in the moment, but then do the same kind of thing a minute later. Finally I had to tell her to not do deep work anymore, but then it was just the lightest touch and barely a massage. I told my companion about this, and she cancelled her massage that was scheduled for the next day. The hotel told her that she was still paying for it, since it was already prepaid and scheduled. Just to be clear: I'm not the kind of person that complains and looks for freebies. For example, the management should have given me a refund on my massage, but I didn't ask and didn't expect it. But under the circumstances there's no way they should have charged my companion for the massage she no longer wanted. The management was all about squeezing money, not about taking care of us. I will never go there again.

Best experience in hotel i've ever had. This is so far the best hotel I've been to! The pool and ocean were really fun to swim in, the bar and buffet had really good food. I woke up to see the sunrise and talked to a staff member in Spanish who was running the coffee and pastries stand. I am still thinking about him back in the US. The only thing is that I did have to move rooms one time because the first one had mold on the bed and pillows.
