Nice suite hotel close to eating options, no view of the river Chose this hotel since it was close to Beaches Restaurant where we were meeting family for dinner. It was a very short walk to the restaurant. The front desk staff was very good, especially Joel who answered all my questions and got us a room on the top floor of the main hotel. (I had tried the website to check in and pick our room, but the site didn't offer any options?). We liked the room layout with a kitchen/sitting area separated from the bedroom by French doors. The beds are comfortable, and the location is pretty and quiet. The place could use an update, especially the bathroom by changing the tub/shower to a walk-in shower. Rooms with just a shower are for guests requiring a roll-in shower. The breakfast was the average hotel provided breakfast with nothing new or special. HATE satellite disc television service as it's difficult to use in hotels, maybe home service is different? I used to travel for work and could tell immediately when the hotel offered satellite TV service. It's hard to get the guide to work, difficult to change stations, etc. Just pay the extra money and get cable service!

A well rounded place to stay We have stayed at this location one to two times a year for the past 4 years when we are visiting our daughter in Portalnd. We have always loved the location and the very friendly staff. We have stayed in both winter and summer months. This trip the hotel was completing full. If you like treats in the afternoon and a free breakfast in the mornings, they have it. Nothing amazing, but people seem to enjoy the optoins. We have always stayed here with our dog, and it was a fabouls place to stay with her. Close to a walking trail along the river and a nice grass potty spot on site. This trip, we no longer have our dog so I didn't care as much where our room was located. The hotel is starting to show some wear. The carpet in the hall has stains, some of the wallpaper is pealing, and one of the sheers in our room was torn. The worse thing was our AC unit made a terribly loud noise. Front desk helped us right away and sent maintenance. They thought the motor or fan blade may be out of balance. Tried to fix it, but for 2 nights we had a loud jet sound in the bathroom which is where the intake fan is. This is also right by the bed. Luckily it cooled off at night enough we could shut the air off. Just might be time for mamagemen to conside some updates in rooms, etc.

It’s the little things It’s probably easier to write about what is right but, that’s not what you want to know about. At face value this property resembles a resort in the way it is laid out with 4 buildings encircling a swimming pool but, it isn’t a resort. Because I stay in the Portland area frequently I see what the Hilton room rates are going for. The Vancouver Homewood Suites is always among the most expensive of the Hilton properties in the Portland metro area which left me thinking it was a “higher end” and better place than the properties which consistently have lower room rates. So, when I had to make a quick trip to Portland a few days before the 4th of July I saw it was among the lowest priced Hilton properties in the Portland/Vancouver area I jumped at the opportunity to stay thinking it was special. Stupid me…. The property has 4 separate buildings consisting of 2 buildings with 2 floors, 1 with 3 floors and the building with reception and meeting rooms is a single story building. The 2 story buildings have no elevators. I was placed in a ground level room with A King bed in a separate bedroom. My room had a rather worn out couch, the dishes were all dirty because they think the dishwasher will get them clean, not. Home2 suites by Hilton have dishwashers and they supply dish soap and a scrubber sponge.I suggest Homewood does this. The Return Air vent was located above the sink in the bathroom and made a considerable amount of noise. The noise, a whooshing sound, didn’t bother me as I like such a noise when going to sleep but, for a good amount of the populous the noise might be too much to try and sleep through. The ice make in the fridge was gone so you had to go to the building where breakfast was served to get ice. It wasn’t raining when I was there but if you come during the fall, winter or spring you can expect to get wet going to get breakfast or ice. There was evidence that the door may have been kicked in at some time. The bed was comfy but the huge bedside lamps took up too much space on the night stands. They need to replaced with something less enormous with lower wattage bulbs or lamps that can be dimmed. The single wireless charging pad with 2 receptacles for AC plugs and 1 USB-A and 1 USB-C was nice but a second one on the other night stand would have been great. The property, what I saw of it is visibly in reasonable shape. Upon closer look you would have found that entrance doors to the building are secured with a keycard system except the doors where the electronic latches are missing. The pool is closed for 3/4 of the year as it is an outside pool. The pool is much larger than the usual inside hotel pools but it would be nice if there was a structure in which the pool was contained. The property is under a departure flight path from Portland International AirPort. The first morning I was there I was woken by F-18 of the Oregon National Guard taking off at 7AM. I then noticed that there were commercial flights going overhead. In looking at a map I saw that the airport is across the river about a mile away, upstream a bit, with its primary runway aimed nearly directly this Homewood Inn & Suites the aircraft are still relatively low when they pass by. This might disturb most people because you do hear the air traffic inside your room even with a couple of floors above you. The reason the room rate were lower than usual was because this place is home to a lot of out-of-area people during a normal workweek, but being the week if July 4th the place emptied out of their normal occupants who stay an extended period. It is this population which stays for week or months at places like Homewood Inn & Suites or Home2 Suites that probably contribute the extra wear and tear of these places. Given the amount of empty half and full racks of beer left out by the garbage cans in the elevator lobby there might be a more rowdy crowd here than what you might find elsewhere. I don’t think I will stay here again. My curiosity has been taken care of and I will return to the Hillsboro area to stay

Homewood Suites Jan 2024 Room was good size, and the room and hotel seemed cleaned. It did not have an airport shuttle but uber was no issues at my early morning time. First floor room was quite due to setup of the building. Staff was friendly and helpful, due to short turnround did not have time for breakfast. Will be back.

Comfortable and up to date suite We had the 2 queen a uite which was very clean and comfortable; a door separated the bedroom from the living room/kitchen space. The breakfast was average. Grounds are beautiful but pool was closed for repair while we were there.
