Fab evening at the spa We visited as a family and did the winter dine and spa offer. We had a lovely time. The staff were so helpful, especially Cat, nothing was too much trouble. Looking forward to returning soon

Disappointing Booked full day spa package for 4 of us, what a disappointment! Firstly the location of the hotel is stunning. On arrival we were greeted by a friendly staff member on reception however was sat in a dressing gown rather than a uniform/workwear! We took a seat in the restaurant area where we were served coffees and pastries which were nice, our robes and towels were dumped on the table next to us while we ate not sure this was necessary. We were asked if we’d been before which we said no but still no one really gave us any direction of where things were. On changing the robes were shabby with tears and holes in. Pool area was nice, we used the pool, sauna and jacuzzi, steam room was out of order. Our first treatments were booked for 11am, no one came for us but upon walking to reception to ask we were then guided back through to the entrance of the hotel where the treatment rooms are! We had also booked another treatment for the afternoon but had the 2 merged into one which was fine! The rooms were so cold and we were all freezing not great at all during and after a massage which sort of took the relaxing feeling you should have away! We then had to walk back through the hotel and busy restaurant in our shabby robes to our afternoon session in the spa. We warmed up slightly in the pool area but the afternoon session was much busier meaning it wasn’t as easy to use the sauna and jacuzzi so we decided to sit in restaurant for a drink. Drinks and service were good but it was, again, so cold!!! We decided to shower and dress for afternoon tea. We ordered tea and prosecco to drink and this came straight out to us and was nice after 35 minutes though we were still waiting for the food and on questioning with a member of staff were told we weren’t on the list after already being given our drinks and plates and cutlery however it was then brought out promptly but our teapot was now just warm and we had already had a few cups of tea each whilst waiting! Afternoon tea was not great either but may have felt better if served sooner while our tea was hot! May I also add we were all freezing during the wait for this and had to sit in our coats. We had all really been looking forward to this and feel really let down by the quality of the day! Unfortunately we would not want to return and wouldn’t recommend to others.

⭐ 1/5 – Misleading, Cold, Broken, and Absolutely NOT a Luxury Spa Hotel ⭐ 1/5 – Misleading, Cold, Broken, and Absolutely NOT a Luxury Spa Hotel I am extremely disappointed with Waterton Park Hotel, and I honestly feel misled. We specifically booked this place because it is advertised as a spa hotel, only to find out after arrival that hotel guests are NOT allowed to use the spa facilities if they have children. The only so-called “family” access is between 7:00 and 9:00 AM. Let’s be serious: what normal person goes on holiday to wake up at 5 AM just to rush children to a pool at 7? And it gets worse. Even during these ridiculous hours, you still have to PAY EXTRA to use the hotel’s own swimming pool, despite already being a guest. This is simply absurd. After paying the extra fee, we discovered that the sauna and steam room were NOT working at all. So basically, you pay extra to use only a cold pool. That’s not a spa – that’s a joke. Cold rooms, broken heating, broken everything Our room was freezing cold. The central heating clearly wasn’t working properly. The solution? We were given three electric heaters, which is laughable for a “luxury” hotel. To make it even more ridiculous, two of them didn’t even work. Electric car charging? Also broken I tried to charge my electric car, only to find out that the charging station does not work either. A pattern starts to emerge here. No hot shower after a long day After all this, all I wanted was a hot shower. Guess what? The cold water wasn’t working properly, so the water couldn’t mix correctly. Result: no proper hot shower. Unacceptable. Family room? Not prepared at all We booked a room for four people. When we arrived: • No extra bed prepared • No proper bedding • No towels ready I wasted almost the entire day constantly calling reception and chasing staff just to get basic necessities like bedding and blankets. “Luxury”? Not even close Calling this hotel “luxury” is almost insulting. This place is old, poorly maintained, badly managed, and completely disconnected from what modern guests expect. Yes, the location is beautiful – and that’s the only positive thing I can say. Final verdict This was one of the most frustrating and disappointing hotel experiences I’ve had. Cold rooms, broken facilities, misleading spa advertising, extra charges everywhere, and zero attention to families. I will never return. And if you value your money, comfort, and sanity — stay far away from this

It was OK but room for improvement. Visited for one night, requested and received a room in Walton Hall, we paid for an deluxe room as per the website. Room was OK, a bit tired in some areas, no bottled water as described but not a deal breaker. Booked an evening meal for 7.30pm in advance as booking had a £30 per person dinner credit. Restaurant was quite busy but seated quickly and told what wasn't available on what is a quite limited dinner menu. We don't eat meat so obviously this limits our choices, our decision, no issue with this. We opted to skip the starters as we weren't inspired, main course was fine, dessert was average in our opinion. Having been a hotel manager previously it's the little things that you notice that can make a difference. A lady who was seating guests cleared our main course and asked if we would like a dessert, we said yes and waited 10 minutes for a menu, I presume she forgot, so we asked the one lady who appeared to be taking orders for the whole restaurant who attended and took our order. Breakfast the following morning we were met on the door by a young man who after taking our room number instructed us " the buffet is in the back and to sit anywhere" As non meat eaters we were surprised when vegetarian sausages were brought to a neighbouring table after we had eaten from the buffet. Perhaps an enquiry as to 'dietary requirements' would be helpful when being informed ' the buffet is in the back' as there are no menus on tables. That said the main issue was the food was only lukewarm, quality was average. Heard a member of staff comment to a colleague "there is no music on", reply was " there was". No background music was forthcoming We had spa access booked as part of our rate but decided not to bother after our breakfast so headed home. We paid £90 each for our experience and don't think I would return, hopefully you will have a great experience, it just didn't hit the mark for us unfortunately.
