Shambles, blot on Red Roof as a brand. Avoid, avoid, avoid. This place is a shambles and is a blot on Red Roof as a brand. Got to Red Roof about 3 PM and nobody was at the desk. Waited 15 minutes for someone to show up despite ringing bell and calling on phone. The woman who checked me in had no explanation for my long wait and was as rude as she could be. Very indifferent to her customer. Surly in fact. When I got to the room the room was not ready, had to wait for housekeeping to finish their work. All of the smoke detectors/alarms in the room were disconnected. The parking lot of the place is littered. Garbage cans around the hotel were overflowing. I understand you get what you pay for but this place is unacceptable. Never again.

Go somewhere else The receptionist was not at the front desk. I had to call her cell phone. When I finally got to my room, there was a dead fly on the counter, a noticeable sticker on the wall, and a ROACH crawling on the wall. I called the receptionist and told her, she gave me another room. This room had a weird smell and some trash on the bed. They also gave the room I was in previously to someone else… I went to work (overnight shift) and came back around 7:30 and went to bed. Housekeeping woke me up twice. The first time, they apologized and left. The second time, after pounding on the door, the man opened and KEPT the door open (thankfully I had the chain bolt locked) and told me it was past my checkout time and I needed to leave! While I was IN BED! I paid for TWO nights! So I get up and go to the front lobby, again no one is there. The electric also went out at some point in time, so when I called the front lobby (after at least 20 times) to confirm it was not just my room, a man answered and told me that I needed to be patient and that the power would be back on shortly. He hung up after that.

Terror on the highway We went to the desk and they said they had a room. Then said it would be $135 cash that their system was down. They took the cash but couldn’t give a receipt because the system was down. Did not offer to write one. They gave us a room which looked good at first. But when lights were turned on we found it infested with cockroaches. EVERYWHERE!!! To top things off the toilet kept kicking on all night I would not advise anyone to stay here

No place to bring a family and not any better for a solo traveler. Availability at any hotel/motel in Wytheville was scarce on the night of September 27. I-26 was closed and trucks and cars were lined up on the interstate. Many needing to make it south had to back track to Wytheville to take I-77 to Charlotte to be able to get to South Carolina. Red Roof Inn was my 6th stop hoping to find a room for a few hours of sleep. I asked the man at the desk if they had availability and he told me "Now we are taking $140 cash for a room." I gave him the cash because I needed a room. He did not get any information from me. He just handed me a key; no name, just the cash. I imagine he pocketed the money. A 2 star motel with such bad reviews and apparently no integrity is not worthy of anyone's business. I hope no one brings a family hear. It was noisy, full of workers that apparently didn't need sleep.

Roaches and NO REFUNDS! My wife and I were driving from Michigan back to Florida on 9/10 when we stopped at the Red Roof Inn Wytheville, VA. We have stayed at other Red Roof Inns in the past with no issues. This stay was not the case. We weren't even in the room for more than an hour before we noticed two roaches on the walls and many more around the bottom and back of the mini-fridge. We packed up and was out of the room in less than an hour from check-in. We complained to the Front Desk and they apologized, gave us a printed receipt showing the credit we were supposed to get and we left. Several days later a charge for the room hit our credit card. I tried calling the hotel twice and they refused to discuss any refunds and told us to call Red Roof In Corporate. So, I called Corporate (800-554-4555) on 9/23. A case was opened #22899399I and a week later I was offered just over 4,000 points to my rewards account for the trouble. I told them I wanted a refund, but they advised that I would have to deal with the property owner on any billing issues. Yet, the owner will not discuss the matter with us and told us to call corporate. What a scam and runaround. We will never stay in a Red Roof Inn again just because of this experience. Corporate has no control over the condition of a property or experience of its customers. I am not a hard person to please and rarely complain. However, this hotel and Red Roof Inn Corporate management of this matter was piss poor. Randy and Lynette Jaclsonville Beach FL
