A 3:58 mile. A 25'6" long jump. Two state championships in the pentathlon. Matt Hoskins boasts all of these feats on his impressive athletics resume, one that continues to grow thanks to his work as the founder of CheetahFit. Matt has worked with Olympic trainers since the age of 12, and has since been hand-picked to train Olympic hopefuls who went on to medal in everything from marathon running to skiing. He takes continuing education in countless fitness and physiology courses, a practice that may explain the wide range of training options at CheetahFit and the large number of worksheets labeled "Nice job!" on the gym's fridge.
In addition to athletic training and corrective exercise, clients can find relief at the onsite massage center. Here, licensed therapists relieve tired muscles with everything from cupping to hot-stone massage to performance acupuncture.
“What I really like about Zen Shiatsu is it combines the effectiveness of acupuncture with the feel … of a massage, so you get the best of both worlds.” This is how Boulder Zen Shiatsu founder Dale Hicks describes his unique treatments, which he learned in part from the creator of another style of shiatsu therapy. Similar to the way needles are used in acupuncture, Dale uses his fingers to manipulate energy flow through meridians, and he uses open hands—and elbows and knees—to knead muscles, a common practice in massage. For many clients, the result is comprehensive relief not just from muscular tension, but also from ailments such as low energy, poor digestion, and migraines. Dale has been practicing zen shiatsu for nearly 20 years, and in that time has learned to incorporate the healing techniques of his other areas of expertise, including yoga, tai chi, and band-aid application.
A wintry chill creeps across skin inside CryoTherapy Boulder's cryosauna, but the result isn't frostbite. Instead, cryotherapy uses its near-freezing temperatures to fight inflammation, boost metabolism, and kick-start collagen production. Praised by health guru Dr. Oz for its physical and cosmetic benefits, the treatment floods pores with cold nitrogen gas, forcing the brain to kick bodily reactions into overdrive after sifting through long-forgotten chemistry notes for the proper response. The nippy chamber encloses bodies but leaves heads poking out during three-minute sessions, which may relieve postworkout muscle pain or unearth supple skin by dismantling toxins lurking below the surface.

Massage is a profession most people gravitate toward as adults. Not David Edwin Ward—at just 9 years old, David used to give his dad neck massages to help relieve the pain of chronic migraines. David has been sharpening his skills ever since. He's accrued more than 3,000 hours of training, and has developed specialties in shiatsu, reflexology, deep-tissue, and Thai massage, among other modalities.
David prides himself on providing thorough massage sessions, often blocking out three hours for a single client so that he can discuss medical history, evaluate posture, and even look at a pair of well-worn shoes to determine gait and other movement patterns. During those three-hour sessions, the actual massage usually takes about two hours, followed by an optional hot-tub soak.
