  • The Florida Aquarium
The Florida Aquarium gives families a glimpse into the mysteries and magic of the undersea world and some of the land that surrounds it. For the holidays, the Aquarium is celebrating with its Holiday FantaSea, which starts December 26th and goes through December 30th. During the celebration, there will be light shows and exhibits open late along with a play area where guests can enjoy real snow. The new Journey to Madagascar exhibit provides a look into the island's unique wildlife and diverse geography as well as the nearby Indian Ocean coral reef. The marine life exhibits spotlight the creatures that live in the bay or deeper underwater, even allowing kids to touch rays and sharks at Stingray Beach or lock eyes with sea turtles. Kids also see the sights of a 60-foot dive at the coral-reef exhibit's walk-through tunnel, whose underwater coral cave and brightly colored fish earned the aquarium a place in Parents magazine's top 10 aquariums for kids. A trip down the Wetlands Trail allows visitors to get face to face with playful otters and more circumspect Burmese pythons, while the Penguin Point opens a window into the lives of the best dressed of the flightless water birds.

  • Clearwater Marine Aquarium
In December of 2005, an orphaned bottlenose dolphin was rescued after being caught in a crab trap. She was brought to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium's rehabilitation center, where the team worked constantly to bring the dolphin, now named Winter, back to health. Soon, for the first time in her adult life, Winter swam like a true dolphin. It was a story of courage and heart worthy of Hollywood?in fact, Winter starred as herself in 2011's Dolphin Tale, a cinematic recreation of her life that reached #1 at the box office. Today, Winter lives at Clearwater Marine Aquarium with her bottlenose friend Hope, who starred with her in Dolphin Tale 2. Here, visitors can watch them swim and play, along with many more animals who got a second chance thanks to the aquarium's rehabilitation team. Visitors can meet these inspirational animals, witness the team in action, and support the effort to save marine animals.

  • Shark-Con
This Florida Aquarium-sponsored event celebrates the aquatic predator and its fellow ocean life with activities and fun for all ages. Guests can test out the latest scuba-diving equipment in a pool, or try their hands and legs at paddleboarding. Educators let visitors feed bamboo sharks, which surprisingly look nothing like wood. Touch tanks hold even more animals, from horseshoe crabs to snakes, while fossils from the aquarium open a window into oceans past. To foster a greater appreciation of the world's waters, Shark-Con brings in experts from Discovery Channel's Shark Week, National Geographic, and other areas of marine science. There will also be fishing clinics and a "how to set up a saltwater tank" clinic, as well as kids activities like a shark tooth dig, bounce house, coloring projects, and a shark ride. Check out 75 ocean-themed vendors after watching "The Last Shark".
