Pint-sized chefs learn about cooking and healthy eating in hands-on classes. Lessons are available for little kids, teens, and everyone in between, and week-long cooking camp sessions are conveniently scheduled over school breaks during the school year. The facility is also nut- and peanut-free so everyone can join in the fun.
Delish! Cooking School, whose classes were voted as some of the Best of WNY by Buffalo Spree, is known for its quality instruction and taste. Within a comfortable urban space, customers can pick up sweet selections such as fresh fudge, scones, bar cookies, and hand-dipped chocolate. Fresh-brewed espresso drinks accompanied by baked goods or housemade ice-cream sandwiches tempt tongues, while a range of cooking tools, sauces, and spices line shelves for at-home chefs to use in their own kitchens.
Experienced chefs lead cooking classes geared toward the home cook looking to hone skills without memorizing transcripts of the Food Network’s full broadcast. Students sip wine during classes such as The Exciting Foods of Thailand, Casual Italian Supper Party, or The New Vegetarian Cuisine.
At The Pomegranate Restaurant, chefs use the namesake fruit in many of the Persian dishes. Pomegranate sauce drizzles atop baked eggplant and tucks into chicken stew. A special pomegranate soup pairs the fruit with lentils, beans, barley, and spinach. A subtle blend of herbs and spices flavor dishes from stews to kebabs, which cook over an open fire in full view of diners.
The cooking school's team of cooking instructors and chefs work diligently to instill a love of cooking in students of all ages. Inside the Kids’ Kitchen, children ages 3 to 6, assisted by their parents and helped along by friendly instructors, prepare healthy, kid-friendly fare. As they work through recipes, the Future Chefs class participants also learn kitchen essentials such as measuring skills, pot and pan protocol, and how to operate small appliances. During adult classes, adult students roll up their sleeves and dive into multipart recipes, from a Provençal-style zucchini and greens torte to sweet-potato casserole. Adult students can choose from hands-on and demonstration-style classes, and the cooking school's chefs and instructors keep household menus fresh by leading new classes every three months. In addition to taking traditional cooking classes, grown-up students can also improve their eating habits with healthy lifestyle classes. Taught by registered dietitians, the classes cover food's impact on current health issues, and prepare students to make the good dietary decisions that will stay with them for the rest of their long, wellness-filled lives.
