  • Spa World
As its name implies, Spa World blends the spa traditions of diverse cultures into a contemporary oasis dedicated to total-body relaxation. The 50,000-square-foot, modernized jimjilbang, a traditional Korean bathhouse, admits guests 24 hours per day, seven days a week, giving them up to 12 hours of open access to a bade pool, a sauna, a fitness center, and seven poultice rooms. One of the spa's many focal points is the bade pool, which targets sore muscles with nine water-blasting massage stations, including a neck shower and a bench jet that sprays high-pressure water onto feet, calves, waists, and sides to increase blood circulation. Nudity is required to keep the pool free of clothing-based contaminants. Blue onyx, amethyst gems, and ice arch overhead in the seven poultice rooms, each of which is artfully decorated and designed to detoxify bodies. Rare substances comprise the walls and ceilings; Korean red clay radiates purifying bio-infrared rays, and salt rocks imported from the Himalayas expand pores. To nourish guests who choose to remain for the day pass's full 12 hours, the onsite restaurant sometimes pilfers these salt rocks to help flavor its authentic Asian cuisine.

  • Pho Aura
The menu at Pho Aura may be simple, but its flavors are wide-ranging. The dishes span culinary boundaries, from the traditional entrees of Hanoi to the innovative cuisine of Saigon. The list takes up only a single page, with choices nearly organized into seven dish types, such as báhn mì (baguette sandwiches), bún (noodles), com tay cam (entrees baked in earthen pots), and, of course, pho. Arguably the signature dish of Vietnam—and definitely the signature of Pho Aura—this rich, aromatic soup bubbles with roasted ginger, anise, onions, and coriander. Guests can order it with their choice of beef, such as sirloin, tripe, tendon, or meatballs, or enjoy it with chicken. And though pho is a must-try, the eatery’s other dishes—including braised lemongrass pork ribs and beef charbroiled over a charcoal grill with peanuts, sweet and sour pickles, and vermicelli noodles—are hardly second place, especially when paired with a choice from the surprisingly wide selection of Asian and Belgian beers.

  • Chantilly National Golf and Country Club
When 2010 U.S. Open winner Graeme McDowell?a fixture among the top 20 golfers in the world for the past three years?needs a bit of swing advice, he often turns to his friend and frequent playing partner, John O'Leary. The head of his eponymous Golf Academy, O'Leary began coaching after experiencing his own share of success in the professional ranks, where he won 15 PGA and mini-tour events and earned a berth in the 2007 PGA Championship. While he occasionally jousts putters with some of the world's top golfers, John's instructional style embraces players of all ages and abilities. With an emphasis on fundamentals and fun, he helps golfers hone everything from swings that produce long, straight drives to strokes that consistently hole short putts. John also makes use of V1 Video Swing analysis and CG2 Launch Monitor by Foresight Sports during lessons, camps, and clinics, allowing his students to see their swing firsthand and determine if they missed a belt loop.

  • Cakes by Happy Eatery
The story of Cakes by Happy Eatery begins with a family who appreciates good food. Today, sisters and second-generation owners Victoria and Emily Wu continue to uphold the bakery's classic baking traditions while giving it a modern twist. It's here where a team of dedicated bakers and pastry chefs spend their days whipping up a staggering selection of pastries, cakes, and desserts. The baking gurus excel at showcasing both sweet and savory flavors; Chinese-style roast pork buns, hand-held chicken pot pies, and chicken salad sandwiches with seasonal champagne grapes rank among their most popular items. The bakery is best known, however, for its European genoise sponge cake, a light, never-cloying style of cake exuding a blend of signature sweetness. While Cakes by Happy Eatery prides itself on making old-fashioned creations using only real butter and sugar, those with restrictive diets will also find vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free delights.
