Cincinnati Movies

Thinking about Cincinnati movies might conjure up memories of Rain Man or Seabiscuit—both had at least some of their scenes shot here. Classic movies like these flicker onto the screen at Clifton’s Esquire Theatre, one of few remaining Cincinnati attractions in operation since 1911. The cinema shows old movies as well as independent features, which makes it a favorite destination for things to do in Cincinnati. Another historic movie house lies just over the river in Covington. Although it was a destination for film when it opened in 1912, Madison Theater now hosts concerts with today’s top bands. The region also has modern ties to cinema. The Cincinnati Film Festival is one of the city's busiest events, bringing approximately 100 films into the city each fall.
