The Guitar Lab elevates musicians' guitar-playing skills with lessons for players in all stages of the learning process. Lessons cover a wide range of knowledge, from music theory and sight reading to improvisation, with a focus on experimentation. Instructors also put an emphasis on ensemble playing, offering lessons with The Guitar Orchestra, in which up to 12 guitarists participate in workshop-style group lessons.
The instructors at Global Music Academy design lessons on musical instruments, voice, dance, and art that go deeper than “practice makes perfect.” They surround their technical pointers with theoretical context, encouraging students to hone their guitar strums and piano chords while delving into musical history and sight-reading. For advanced classes, instructors invite celebrated musicians to inspire pupils through lectures, demonstrations, and ventriloquist acts. Their dance teachers draw from countless global influences to arrange their curriculum, covering Bollywood, hula, ballet, and tap. During art class, employees outline classic styles as adults and children sketch their original works.
The staff also appreciates the social benefits of their teachings. They head an after-school program and various summer camps to introduce youngsters to the fine arts, which often culminate in confidence-boosting performances. Options for toddlers—such as Mommy & Me dance classes and rhythmic Kindermusik sessions—tune into tactics for mental and motor development.
The Metropolitan School of the Arts - formerly the Metropolitan Fine Arts Center - was founded more than 14 years ago. This multidisciplinary performing-arts organization takes a holistic approach to teaching and encouraging performance-arts skills, creating performance opportunities in dance, music, and theater for a diverse population of students of all ages and abilities. Its students have gone to perform on Broadway, at The Juilliard School, and in highly esteemed companies, such as the Mark Morris Dance Company, The Washington Ballet, and Ford's Theater and Signature Theater. Youth programs include year-round programs in dance, theater, music, music-theater, and acting, as well as a performing-arts program in the summer, all for children as young as 2. Adult classes range from basic to advanced, including ballet, jazz, and tap lessons, plus yoga and ballet-barre fitness workouts.

What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
I'm able to make many of my students comfortable with their learning process by doing what works best for them individually. In turn I have many students that stay with me for several years at a time.
Do you provide any materials? What should your students expect to bring?
Students must bring their guitar. I provide lesson materials, amplification, tuners, cables, and video recordings of the lesson.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
I love playing the guitar and with that passion comes the joy of sharing what I know with those eager to learn.
What do you love most about your job?
The smiles and grins on students faces when they finally get that chord or lick down. And I get to play guitar... come on!
