In 2009, he moved to Placer County and discovered a ranch in Loomis Basin blessed with rich, volcanic soil and a hundred feet of dry, stacked rock walls. It was, however, badly in need of repair, and that called to him. The rest is history: that space, nestled in Placer Country's Sierra Foothills, would soon become Rock Hill Winery.
