Founded in 2014, we are a craft distillery in Bloomfield, CT. We distill all of our spirits using locally grown wheat and botanicals from farmers we know, supporting our communities. We try to create experiences that show our passion and dedication..
The conception of Waypoint Spirits began on a beach. There, gazing at the sailboats on the Long Island Sound and contemplating how many grains of sand from Fisher’s Island were ending up on their shoes, Waypoint's founders were inspired to start their own distillery. And the name's fitting—not only is the word waypoint associated with travel, but it bespeaks the founders own adventure towards a particular destination. That endpoint? Top-notch spirits.
The Secret Stash Beer Bash treats beer aficionados like true VIPs, taking them behind the metaphorical velvet rope into a lair of rare suds that the general public may never be lucky enough to taste. The secrecy, and rarity, come from the method behind the bash: each brewery is given their own ONYX Secret Stash whiskey barrel in which to brew their specialty beers, and the audience decides the victor. Here's more of what to expect from the bash:
What You Get: Unlimited tastings, an exclusive tasting class, and the chance to vote for your favorite brews.
The Breweries: Over 20 of Connecticut's top microbreweries, including Brass Works Brewing Company, Charter Oak Brewing Company, City Steam Brewery, Cold Creek Brewery, Onyx Spirits Moonshine and Whiskey, Outer Light Brewing Company, Powder Hollow Brewery, Thimble Island Brewing Company, and Willimantic Brewing Company
The Festivites: Enjoy fare from local restaurants and food trucks, and music from The River 105.9
The Good Cause: Every brewery barrel will be collected to age whiskey, and each whiskey will have a hint of flavor from the Secret Stash brew flavors. ONYX Spirits Company will donate back to Goodwin College Foundation for every brewery whiskey that is purchased in their tasting room
In the mid-18th century, distillers at Albany's first distillery, the Quackenbush Still House, crafted rum from Caribbean molasses, Hudson River water, and wild yeast. Instead of Quackenbush's large wooden fermenting vessels, The Albany Distilling Company's distilling duo, Matt Jager and John Curtin, rely on sleek, modern equipment to create their Quackenbush Still House rum. Updated gear, yeast, and water aside, Matt and John stick to Quackenbush's original recipe to yield the rum's smooth, butterscotch-flavored finish.
Their other small-batch spirits likewise pay homage to recipes of old, from the slowly processed Coal Yard New Make whiskey to Ironweed, a Prohibition-style whiskey aged in oak. Available throughout New York state, The Albany Distilling Company's libations are also served twice weekly at the distillery's very own tasting room.
