What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
We have a brand new 3000 square foot facility in Hopkins and our teachers are world class.
They tour the world and come back home to pass on knowledge to you!
We also have a program called, "Band Together" where students rehearse with their own band and have live performances at real venues.
Do you provide any materials? What should your students expect to bring?
You can bring your guitar, bass, or drum sticks if you want.
We can provide everything else you may need.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
I wanted to find a way to be able to spend as much time as I could with my family.
As a touring sound engineer, I could end up on the road 9 months of the year. When my first son was born, I knew that all I wanted in life was to be around him all the time.
This job made local employment a reality.
What do you love most about your job?
Collaborating with other like minded individuals through music.
This place allows me to show my hometown what I've learned out there, whether its mapping out what it takes to make a living in the music industry or just having a good time playing music.
I love watching my students progress!
In 1998, School of Rock's first location was built in Philadelphia to strengthen students' self-confidence, develop their musicianship, and most importantly, spark an insatiable enthusiasm to learn. Today, the School of Rock franchise has branched out to more than 65 locations throughout the United States and Mexico. During the school's music lessons, encouraging instructors well versed in methods of rocking and rolling—such as strumming guitars, tickling keyboards, and causing avalanches with yodels—demystify music theory for mini Mick Jaggers of all skill levels.

When students come to Joe Hastings' lessons, some of the first things he asks are "Who are your favorite singers or artists?" and "What are your favorite styles to focus on." Why? Because he knows that when a student plays what they want to play, rather than suffer through rounds of "Greensleeves," they'll keep playing. Having taught over 25,000 private lessons since 1992, Joe has every style of music and every breed of guitar down pat. In private lessons ranging from acoustic guitar, electric, and bass to 12-string, banjos, lap steels, and even the finicky dulcimer, Joe's students learn how to play quickly and efficiently. Lessons also delve into music theory, pattern recognition, and muscle memory, and handily take place within the music-only confines of
