  • Young Coders Academy
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition? Young Coders Academy is an after school program that offers computer science in a fun project oriented environment. Kids shouldn't have to teach themselves to code. By working with other kids they not only learn computer programming but they develop team building and other important social skills. What is the experience customers can expect? Students learn in a small group in our high tech studio equipped with touch screen computers, HDTV classroom projections from any computer and plenty of space to build things. What was the inspiration to start or run this business? My son is interested in technology and spends hours at home on the computer with internet friends. I often thought if we could just get these kids together in a room they could create something great. My hope is that we bring out the creativity in the kids who are interested in technology. What do you love most about your job? I love seeing kids interacting in positive ways. By giving them new skills and a place to be creative we bring out talents that are often not discovered until much later in life.

  • Sylvan Learning Center - Little Rock
The staff members at Sylvan Learning's numerous study facilities understand that each child learns differently. Therefore, they don’t try to implement a uniform tutoring system; instead, they design custom lesson programs based on the results of standardized testing, diagnostic tools, and one-on-one interviews. Tutors work with students from kindergarten through grade 12, helping them both catch up and get ahead academically with engaging instruction and cutting-edge technology—including instruction via iPads. Many of Sylvan’s instructors work in local schools, so they are intimately familiar with common curricula and understand how to gear lessons toward optimal results. After-school and summer classes can ready high-schoolers for the rigors of the ACT or the SAT, or they can help students to wow college-admissions officers with their superior essay-writing skills.

  • Algebra Is Easy
When a student improved her ACT math score from 19 to 24 after taking his class, Dave Bobbitt knew he was onto something. He and the other experienced tutors at the ACT Help Center have made it their mission to help students improve their scores through interactive classes taught live online, where they demonstrate various problem types and take questions. The instructors only teach one subject each, which enables them to focus on their area of expertise rather than tutoring in a subject they’re not as familiar with or hurriedly trying to learn how to read.

  • Real Estate School Of Profession
Head instructor Phyllis Harrington founded Real Estate School of Profession not just because she's passionate about real estate, but because she's passionate about people. She's observed that many come to the real-estate industry from another career, and that for this sizable portion of students, it's a chance to find a more rewarding day-to-day experience. "That," Phyllis explains, "is why the guidance we provide is so important." The school's five in-classroom and online certification programs are united by a common attribute: instructors lavish students in each with individual attention so that they can make the most of this transition without needing to get the Teach-o-Bot 5000 in working order again.
