  • Artemis Defense Institute
The Simulator Lab Artemis Defense Institute encompasses classrooms and three separate VirTra simulators in our labs: one with a single screen, one with three screens, and one with five screens that completely immerse trainees in active, real-life scenarios. The Training Firearms Though no ammunition is used, simulators work in tandem with real Glock 22 and AR-15 firearms that have been converted for use with lasers and CO2 tanks to simulate recoil. Simulators also use an optional device called The Threat Fire, which gives shorts jolts of electricity to indicate being hit by incoming rounds. Meet the Team Steven and Sandy Lieberman wanted to go into business together. That much they knew, but the husband-and-wife team didn't exactly have a specific business in mind. Maybe a bakery, maybe a laundromat—in the end, they stuck to what they knew: Steven's passion for firearms and self-defense. That was 2012. Since then, Artemis Defense Institute has drawn in everyone from the general public, to the Orange County Sheriffs department, to members of the Special Forces.

  • KinderCare
Like most parents, Cyndi R. doesn't like to take chances with her child's wellbeing. By the time her son was 13 months old, Cyndi had interviewed roughly 20 childcare providers—but she noticed something different when she walked into the local KinderCare. The staff here greeted every child by name and, as she peeked into each of the classrooms, Cyndi noticed engaged instructors leading one-on-one lessons. The center's Assistant Director even took the time to answer all of her questions, both before and after she decided to enroll her son. The thing is, this isn't a unique experience. KinderCare now has more than 1,700 centers, and parents across the country share similar thoughts on their local educators. To hear them tell it, it's the commitment of those teachers that makes all the difference. Twice a year, KinderCare hosts the largest early childhood teacher-training program in the country, and every center pursues national accreditation. All of this translates into the development of social, emotional, physical, and intellectual skills in infants and children up to 12 years old. That may seem like a lot of skills to entrust a daycare with, but KinderCare is more than just a daycare—in fact, it's better to think of it as a learning center. During daycare, kindergarten, and before- and after-school programs, KinderCare's educators lead activities that focus on six different areas, including math and science, language and literacy, and the art of opening a tricky juice box.

  • Sylvan Learning Center LA Co-OP
The staff members at Sylvan Learning's numerous learning centers understand that each child learns differently. Therefore, they don?t try to implement a uniform tutoring system; instead, they design custom lesson programs based on the results of standardized testing, diagnostic tools, and one-on-one interviews. Tutors work with students from kindergarten through grade 12, illuminating topics ranging from basic reading and writing to remembering complex algebraic formulas without having them tattooed on your chest. Many of Sylvan?s instructors work in local schools, so they are intimately familiar with common curricula and understand how to gear lessons toward optimal results. After-school and summer classes can ready high-schoolers for the rigors of the ACT or the SAT, or they can help students to wow college-admissions officers with their superior essay-writing skills.
