After Mel and Marilyn Rubin lost their son Mark to melanoma in 1999, they knew they wanted to do something for other families suffering from the disease. They founded Melanoma Foundation of New England, a non-profit that provides educational programs that prevent and quickly identify skin cancer in children and adults. They also sponsor support groups for patients and caregivers.
