Joe Caccavella Jr. has far more invested in Joe’s Barbershop than his name. Indeed, his family’s pride rests on the continuing traditions of this old-school barber shop. It was originally the domain of his father, who began trimming hair and shaving faces smooth with straight razors in the 1960s. (Joe Jr.’s grandfather also worked as a master barber in his own shop.) Today, Joes Sr. and Jr. work together at the shop, which has expanded to include more chairs and more barbers to better serve Chicago’s Logan Square community. Below, find out why barbering is such a passion and why you should considering getting a cut and hanging out in this sort of boys’ club:   "We try to keep this place what it was. We do what we can, the best we can, as fast as we can, for as cheap as we can. And as long as I’m alive and I own the shop with my father, that’s not going to change." – Joe Caccavella Jr. Check out related reads on the Groupon Guide: One Night with the Old-School Barbers of the Old-School Joe's Barbershop Part bathhouse, part barroom, part time warp, the classic barber shop may just be the last bastion of American masculinity.
