What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
I have been fishing the Mighty Umpqua River for the last 16 years. These bass will not disappoint you with the fight they put up reeling them in. Be sure to pack a lunch and bring plenty of sunscreen. We also have some nice swimming holes along the way.
What is the experience customers can expect?
A fun filled day of bass fishing along with some amazing scenery and beautiful wild life.
Many days in the peak of the season as many as 100+ bass can be hooked into.
Bass are normally catch and release but can be kept in limits of 5 per person.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
I started www.southernoregonanglers.com 4 years ago with the end goal being to complete my lifelong dream of becoming a fishing guide.
That dream has finally come to light and I'm loving every minute of it!
What do you love most about your job?
The people I get to meet and show a good time. Work should be fun and I have the most fun doing what I love! Whether I have experienced fishermen or first timers on my boat, it's always a good day on the water!

Enthralled by the rugged and lush landscape that surrounded him, Steve Nichols wanted to find a way to connect with the natural beauty when he moved to Oregon back in 1993. He bought himself a drift boat, and headed out into the North Umpqua River and the Elk River. A few years later, he took on a jet sled, and started fishing for sturgeon and salmon that swim the Charleston and Winchester Bay.
More than two decades later, he leads fishing expeditions year-round, helping seasoned pros and fishing newbies reel in catches. Spring through Fall, charters set out to cast lines for halibut, albacore tuna, rockfish, ling cod, and cabezon, depending on the time of year. There's also of plentitude of chinook salmon fishing on the lower Umpqua, and ocean salmon charters that take place May through September.
