What inspired you to start or run this business?
Our goal is that every individual who walks through our door is treated with the utmost respect and attention. So many people don't make time to take care of the body that takes care of everyone else. We believe getting you through our door will be a win-win battle for both of us, but you making the choice to keep coming back is what's going you make you a warrior!
What is something most people don't know about your business?
Every month we include a free nutritional seminar with your membership. It's a time to weigh in and take measurements (optional), but, most importantly, we honor the "Change Maker" of the month. That person gets on the Wall of Fame at the studio and gets their next month’s membership free! This is not decided by just inches and pounds lost alone. It's a collective honorarium based on a multitude of criteria including attitude, attendance, and overall fitness improvement.
For Adam Farrell, college wasn’t a time of personal enrichment, but of unhealthy living. Once the young undergraduate student became dissatisfied with the party lifestyle he was leading in college, he began exercising regularly. He found that, unlike the quickly dissipating pleasures of pizza dinners and games of donut-glaze pong, exercise helped him cultivate the overall happiness and confidence he sought. He soon realized that he had both a passion and knack for personal training.
Ten years later, Farrell is a certified strength and conditioning specialist, a well-established personal trainer, and the owner of his own fitness facility. Aided by a staff of fellow fitness aficionados, he conducts boot-camp programs and athletic-performance-enhancement camps, leading high-intensity, circuit-style workouts that aim to slim physiques, tone muscles, and boost metabolisms. The trainers scale these workouts to accommodate clients of all athletic abilities and accommodate restrictive issues, including injuries and deep-seated fears of working out in mismatched gym socks.
After experiencing the frustration that comes when workout results plateau and the cost of personal trainers seems prohibitive, Melody Chandler decided to become a personal trainer herself. Her goal: to help those just like her find a results-driven, empowering, and affordable solution. She shed the extra pounds that came along with hypothyroidism and four pregnancies, became a nationally-certified AFAA personal trainer, and founded Texas Fit Chicks to share her weight-loss strategies and support with other women.
Her all-female staff of certified personal trainers helps exercisers of all fitness levels shape their bodies during group fitness classes. In an effort to challenge muscle memory, the team shakes up workout regimens by using different techniques and equipment—including kettlebells, resistance bands, and lead sweatpants—each day. Melody’s team also helps exercisers retain their results by supplying nutrition support with meal plans and recipes that use healthy ingredients.
Trainer and fitness guru Justin Bradshaw modeled SGT. H20's CombatSwim after the rigorous training he received as an Army diver. His challenging exercises encourage full-body fitness, using workouts that build stamina, boost metabolism, improve swimming skills, and promote weight loss. Incorporating the best of land-based cross-training systems, CombatSwim includes plenty of high-intensity interval training and pulse-hiking calisthenics. In the pool, water adds extra resistance that amplifies the effects of the exercises, which include swimming sprints, endurance swimming, and treading water with weights. Designed to sharpen the mind as well as the body, CombatSwim leaves exercisers with the same confidence and conditioning as some of the world's elite military warriors.
Fortunately for Abel, and every member of Pure Fitness Solutions, his brand-new facility is open 24/7. Amid a rock-climbing wall, a childcare center, locker rooms, showers, and workout spaces full of boot-camp classes and Zumba are enough free weights and cardio equipment to carve out a diamond-hard body. And roaming amid all these are fellow N.A.S.M–certified personal trainers keeping their clients on track and accountable. In fact, every new member who signs up receives a complimentary fitness assessment by one of these personal trainers, providing immediate feedback about the client's physical condition and recommendations about how to get in shape and live a healthy, fit lifestyle.
Kaisen, the trainer behind Corpus Christi Parkour, has an unusual relationship with gravity. While most other humans accept that they'll remain bound to the earth by its invisible pull, Kaisen challenges its forces through rapid, airborne moves known only to parkour experts and students of the gloves-made-of-chewed-gum school of acrobatics. He shares those skills during lessons held in settings such as Heritage Park, teaching students how to scale virtually any obstacle while simultaneously improving their flexibility and strength. Kaisen also leads children's fitness classes, boot-camp workouts, and personal-training sessions.
