About East Bay Winery Bike Tours

Although it hasn't quite reached the level of Napa Valley's 400-plus wineries, the East Bay's wine scene has experienced a rebirth—and East Bay Winery Bike Tours intends to ride right alongside as it continues to grow. Led by owner Jon Zalon, the company takes to the streets on two wheels to explore the area's ever-expanding collection of urban wineries and the faces behind the bottles at each stop.

In 2012, Diablo magazine plopped East Bay Winery Bike Tours at No. 10 on its "50 Things You Gotta do This Summer" list. No matter the season, EBWBT's rides present safe, scenic routes that include everything from a trip to an Oakland estuary to a pleasant cruise down Alameda's palm-lined streets—all without having to rent a car or a horse to drive that car. Every tour also makes sure to set aside plenty of time to soak in the surroundings, including picnics packed with homemade food.

We had a great time on our tour! Jon was an excellent and very prepared tour guide. Great sandwiches for lunch and he also provides snacks and water as well. It was a fun introduction to the urban wineries!

Tour was not as described on website. Went to Berkeley instead of riding along the estuary to Alameda and taking the ferry back to Jack London square. There was also tasting fees that were not mentioned on the website. I would assume they would be covered by the cost of the tour. Despite the misrepresentation I still had a great time. So if you go, make sure you ask what route you will be taking. Also make sure you fil your water bottle at each stop as beverages are not included with lunch.

The tour was very well planned out and executed. Bikes were sized perfectly, the tour lead carried all wine purchases, lunch was wonderful-regular, vegetarian and gluten-free options. I have and will continue to recommend this tour.
