NRA- and Arizona DPS-certified instructors teach students how to safely discharge and operate semi-automatic firearms. Participants must bring their own firearm, side holster, belt, two magazines or speed loaders, and 50 rounds of target ammunition––the latter of which they can also purchase onsite. They can also bring their own ear and eye protection or borrow it onsite. The class does not include the range fee ($15 per person).

The course is geared toward beginners with minimal or no experience. During three hours of classroom time, instructors cover safety skills and basic techniques such as the proper grip, sight alignment, and stance for shooting a firearm. After the class, students hone their marksmanship by firing multiple rounds of ammunition during one hour of range time. Water and soft drinks are provided throughout the four hours.
