Banya Spa
Many spas soothe their clients with the latest trends and relaxation techniques. Banya Spa, however, prefers a centuries-old tradition. An updated version of the ancient wooden Russian bath houses, the spa uses the power of steam and heat to cleanse and ease pain. A private mosaic-tiled steam room, heated marble benches, and wood-paneled saunas—with the option for wet or dry-salt heat—help to boost circulation and thaw the frozen burritos their users brought as snacks.
The heat-focused treatments also open up pores to help the occupants work up a healthy sweat, at least, until a subsequent cold-water plunge washes that sweat away and provides an invigorating jolt. Bodies can be further detoxified with a body scrub, which combines Colorado organic honey with natural sea salt to exfoliate and moisturize skin. As another way to lift tension from muscles and joints, the staff performs a variety of massages and sessions with a platza—a fragrant bundle of tree branches that's struck against the body to exfoliate the skin and open up the pores. Respiratory health can be improved with essential oils and aromatherapy, with or without heat.
