Formed in the glory days of heavy metal, Queensryche rocks audiences with songs that reveal the fierce polish of 30 years of evolving artistry. The band's distinctive mix of prog rock, metal, and subliminal messaging rocketed its Empire album up the charts, launching hits such as "Silent Lucidity," "Jet City Woman," and "Best I Can." But it was the band’s rock-opera concept album Operation: Mindcrime that solidified its status as an innovative powerhouse. Upon its release, the ambitious work blew the minds of fans and critics alike with its fusion of heady prog-rock, full-bore metal, and poetic and politically conscious lyricism. The song cycle garnered a Grammy nomination for the single “I Don’t Believe In Love,” inspired a sequel, and proved that metal could be as brainy and brawny as a bicep wearing glasses.

On its Return to History world tour, the quintet features newly minted lead singer Todd La Torre alongside guitarists Michael Wilton and Parker Lundgren, bassist Eddie Jackson, and drummer Scott Rockenfield. The fivesome treats its fans to new tracks from its upcoming album while embracing its classic hits, now filtered through La Torre’s no-holds-barred tenor wail.

Orlando-based rockers Leaving Haven open the show with catchy guitar riffs and powerful lyrics, a sound they’ve honed from stints on the road with Traverser, SoulSwitch, and Smile Empty Soul.

House of Blues Orlando

Perched in Downtown Disney West Side, House of Blues Orlando resembles something of a backwoods theme park itself. Giant signs herald the venue from atop an old water tower taken from Mickey Mouse’s ancestral estate, and between trees wrapped entirely in twinkling lights stands a sprawling, neon-lit wooden roadhouse whose stage and lantern-strung patio bustle with boisterous entertainments nearly every night. A box of Delta Mississippi mud beneath its stage links it to its sister locations across the country.
