$85 for an Intro to Handgun Shooting Course ($175 Value)

NRA-certified instructors lead the three-hour Intro to Handgun Shooting course. After about an hour of teaching safety and marksmanship principles, instructors supervise live-fire training, and students get to shoot several types of revolvers and semiautomatic pistols. The schedule slates classes during the afternoon and evening of select weeknights, as well as on select weekends.

New Jersey Firearms Academy

NRA-certified instructor Lateif Dickerson gladly shares his firearms expertise for both the real and theoretical world, which led Michio Kaku to seek his insight for Discovery Channel's Sci Fi Science. When not contemplating the possibility of Star Wars- and Halo-caliber firepower, Lateif leads classes in both armed and unarmed self-defense for beginner through advanced marksmen at New Jersey Firearms Academy's indoor and outdoor ranges. He and his team also extend their courses to specialty topics, from Zombie Survival to wilderness first aid, which teaches students how to stop a wounded tree from leaking sap. Beyond civilian training, Lateif trains law-enforcement and security personnel with programs such as SORA and K-9 training. The academy also houses a shop with gear such as Insta-Mold custom silicone earplugs.
