New York City Bowling

The neighborhood bowling alley is a local standard across the country, and the variety of New York City bowling alleys elevates this American landmark with all sorts of metropolitan amenities. Bowling can be one of the most unique things to do in NYC, whether you’re pairing a couple of games with cocktails at Lucky Strike NYC or catching a strike and a concert at Brooklyn Bowl. For visitors trying to figure out what to do in NYC, a trip to the alley with friends or family may be the perfect fit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Bowling in New York City usually runs around $6–$8 per person per game plus about $4–$6 for shoe rental, with some centers charging by the hour instead. Many NYC bowlers lower that cost by using local vouchers on Groupon that bundle games and shoe rental for a set lane price.

You can often find the best group and family bowling deals near New York City through limited‑time offers on Groupon for brands like Lucky Strike, Bowlero, AMF, Bowl 360, and neighborhood alleys in Queens, Brooklyn, and Long Island. These offers commonly package 2 hours or 2 games with shoe rental for up to six people.

Regular bowling in the New York City area uses full‑size lanes and standard balls, while mini bowling uses shorter lanes and smaller balls that are easier for kids and casual players. Local spots such as Laser Bounce in Queens and Area 53 in Brooklyn pair mini bowling with arcades, laser tag, or pizza packages.

Yes, many bowling centers in and around New York City are set up for kids and family outings, offering bumpers, ramps, arcade games, and kid‑friendly food. Deals at places like Bowl 360 New Hyde Park, Bowl 360 Ozone Park, Laser Bounce, and Area 53 often highlight family amenities and group‑friendly pricing.

Most bowling centers near New York City let you reserve birthday party packages that typically include lane time, shoe rental, pizza or snacks, soft drinks, and a set number of guests. Some Long Island and Queens centers also offer arcade credits or mini bowling add‑ons, and discounted party bundles are frequently listed on Groupon.

Bowling is a popular date‑night choice in New York City because many centers combine lanes with music, cocktails, and lounge seating. Places like Lucky Strike‑branded centers, Brooklyn Bowl, and Bowl 360 locations often have evening lighting effects, food menus, and bar service that make it easy to turn a couple of games into a full night out.

Hourly bowling deals near New York City usually let up to six or eight people share one lane for a flat per‑hour price instead of paying per game. Many suburban centers around the city, and some lanes featured on Groupon, offer 1‑ or 2‑hour blocks that include shoe rental, especially during off‑peak hours.

Weekday and daytime discounts are common at bowling alleys around New York City, with lower per‑game or hourly rates before evening rush, and occasional all‑you‑can‑bowl specials. Groupon deals often stack on top of these quieter times by restricting vouchers to weekday or non‑holiday use, which can make midweek bowling noticeably cheaper.

$29 for 2 People to Bowl 2 Hours + Includes Free Shoe Rental
My bowling shoes looked brand new and clean, the restrooms were clean and I noted a baby changing station in the woman’s bathroom which is nice for my future endeavors there. The bumpers worked great for my son, the food smelled really good although I didn’t purchase any food, staff were friendly. I will say I went on Wednesday at 1pm so it was slow which was great for us. You have to try the arcade games! The arcade requires you to purchase a $2 card to load your credits onto. The prize machine is nice because you don’t have to wait around for people to help you it’s all automated. My son said 10/10 would recommend!
