During the two-hour fused-glass class, which takes place on Thursdays at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 9 a.m., students learn and utilize basic glass-fusing techniques to create their own vase or tiki light. They also learn about different types of glass, plus other skills, such as glass cutting and kiln firing. Classes include all supplies and the use of studio tools.
Both Pattie Johnson and her husband, Mark, have been creating glass art since the 1970s. At their full-service studio in Tucson, the couple works in all varieties of glass, from blown and fused to cast and stained. Their wide-reaching knowledge spills over into a variety of themed classes that help students of all ages learn basic techniques and forge masterpieces of their own.
