Techweek descends on Manhattan's 82 Mercer on October 17 for a day that celebrates innovation and offers a glimpse into the future.
What started in Chicago in 2011 as a small assemblage of technology entrepreneurs and enthusiasts is now a three-city road show celebrating ecosystems and bringing bright minds together across America. The robust growth should hardly be surprising, as Techweek's very foundation is built upon a steadfast orientation toward a brighter, better-connected future. Each event—one each year in New York City and Los Angeles on top of the Chicago production—brings together the brightest minds in fields such as web development, fashion, technology, and media. With a slate chock-full of conferences, summits, speeches, and parties to attend, opportunities for rubbing elbows with tech industry bigwigs abound. This year's NYC event will include a Launch competition for early-stage startups, a fashion-tech runway show, and speaker sessions from a number of innovative technology leaders, as well as appearances from companies such as Gilt, Bonobos, and Ahalife. The 2012 event featured a presentation from Travis Kalanick of Uber, and the 2013 Chicago event, which opened with a speech from Mayor Rahm Emanuel, hosted such luminaries as Jason Fried of 37signals, and included sponsors such as Google, General Motors, and Virgin.
