  • Nature's Prime Organic Foods
Nature's Prime obtains its organic foods from a variety of local farmers who use renewable resources and conserve soil and water without resorting to antibiotics, growth hormones, pesticides, bioengineering, and gene splicing with giant carnivorous plants. Its poultry and meat come from Wisconsin; its fish are line-caught; its scallops hail from the East Coast; its shrimp are farm raised (to avoid Gulf pollution); and its fresh fruit is delivered via giant suction tube directly from the Brazilian jungle. NPO Foods is also affiliated with the Minnesota Timberwolves, so it's one of the rare organic food purveyors that also supports its locally grown slam dunks, free throws, and rebounds, which are always best fresh off the backboard.

  • Scream Town
Deep within a secluded, 200-year-old forest, more than 100 actors terrify visitors at Scream Town's more than five haunted attractions. Scares begin as the fabled and deranged Blood family puts chills into hearts while roaming the facility’s Oak Blood Forest, which patrons wander without tour guides, protective wagons, or flashlights. Over in the 10-foot-plus cornfield, guests navigate a 15-minute maze that passes through a meat freezer with frozen cow parts, a botanical center with living vines, and an alien-occupied zone. Further foreboding hangs over the more than 7,000-square-foot Circus Asylum, a wooden maze where circus freaks petrify visitors by creating balloon animals of three-headed poodles. A guide leads small groups along the Scream Town path where sasquatches are rumored to prowl, and the 500-foot, pitch-black Rabid Alley startles guests with creepy sounds and in-your-face sensations. Once patrons have returned to safety, they can decompress from the cache of frights with snacks such as mini donuts or hot cider.

  • ENKI Brewing
Friends for more than 20 years, John Hayes and Dan Norton always shared a love of beer. When the two decided to open a brewery together in 2012, they chose their inspiration: Enki was the Sumerian god of running water, creation, and wisdom, the deity who brought the rains that brought the grains that, in the end, brought the beer. Located in downtown Victoria, ENKI Brewing calls a 100-year-old creamery building home. Here, they serve the duo's brews, which include chocolaty porters, an English-style Journey Pale Ale, a flowery Tail Feather IPA, and a Victoria's Gold cream ale. Guests can stop by to sample the original beers and enjoy snacks in the cozy taproom, which accompanies a custom 20 bbl brew house. In warmer months, groups can gather in the outdoor beer garden, overlooking Steiger Lake and the LRT bike path.
