About Hower House
Commissioned by local industrialist John Henry Hower and designed by renowned Akron architect Jacob Snyder, the Hower House fills its 28 rooms with mementos from a storied past. The National Historic Landmark—built in 1871—is well preserved, from the 2.5-acre lawn to the mansard roof. Eleven months out of the year, the Victorian mansion hosts tours and programs, wherein visitors can examine treasures from the Howers' world travels.

Volunteer gave us an excellent tour with lots of interesting facts. I along with my two college aged granddaughters thoroughly enjoyed it.

One of our favorite historic homes in Ohio. Enjoyed the beautiful Christmas decorations and excellent gift shop.

All of the workers went out of their way to show kindness and hospitality. Even though the tour over the holidays is self guided there was a tour guide or two on each level to give information and answer questions.
