About Marble Slab Creamery Allen

The warm aroma of freshly baked waffle cones envelops every nook and cranny of Marble Slab Creamery, revving up guests’ senses with the promise of impending decadence. As the hand-rolled cones tan in their ovens, the store’s staff bustles about the premises whipping up fresh batches of premium ice cream in the onsite creamery and helping patrons select a flavor from a list of more than 60 options. This chef-driven dedication to gourmet ice cream began in 1983 with the company’s founding in Houston, Texas, when two French chefs were enlisted to create a recipe for Marble Slab Creamery’s signature sweet-cream ice cream using their culinary expertise.

Today, staffers utilize the frozen-slab technique of ice-cream architecture, scooping each customer’s choice of ice cream and mix-ins onto a chilled marble slab to mix the separate elements into one custom mélange. Though specializing in cone-based ice-cream treats, Marble Slab Creamery also offers a menu full of other scream-worthy confections, including cakes, shakes, and pie à la mode.

I went in around 6:00 pm. Specifically went in for sorbet and they didn't know if they had any. They thought there was some in the back, but looked and couldn't find it. They were out or scraping bottom of the homemade vanilla that I wanted. There was a container with no label that looked to be a sorbet or gelato, but the workers didn't know what it was. They let me taste it and the worker had difficulty scooping it up...it was like frozen ice but tasted like lemon sorbet. I ordered it but the worker couldn't scrape very much from the container because it was so hard. They were extremely nice, but this location didn't have the type of ice cream or sorbet that I was expecting.

New owners and new design with generous portions. Ice cream is always very good with a nice assortment of mix-ins.

When you take your kids for ice cream, it is supposed to be fun. The owner here was rather grim and joyless, processing us through like an assembly line. He did have a very nice young man working there for him - he's a keeper.
